The Reason for Marriage
Have you ever stopped to think about why the institution of marriage exists? What is the purpose of marriage? At the most fundamental level, marriage exists to bring glory to God. In other words, the Lord takes delight when we fulfill his will and have a blessed marriage. When we grow in our marriage relationship, treat our spouse in a Godly manner, and develop Christlike character, God smiles. This shows a heart of love and obedience towards God.The Lord established marriage as an institution for this very reason. God united Adam and Eve in holy matrimony, saying: "Therefore a man leaves his father and his mother and cleaves to his wife, and they become one flesh" (Genesis 2:24). It’s clear that God considers marriage the most pivotal part of society because when we’re married, we contribute to a stable society and we can create a healthy and loving environment for our children. We are a part of something bigger than ourselves and God is glorified. Marriage also involves a call from God. If you are interested in marriage, understand that God is calling you to a challenging vocation. With his favor, blessing, and dedication you can have the marriage that God intends for you to have.
