Are You Waiting and Discouraged?
Whatever you are waiting for today, the peace of God is waiting with you.
More is happening than what you can see. Give your heart a few minutes to realize that God will do what He said. That thing He promised you? It’s coming.
You are not waiting for an empty promise. You are waiting to see the Faithful One act according to His faithfulness. Faithful is who He is. He will do exactly what is on His heart to do—what He told you He would do.
When it comes to waiting on God, we are often like five-year-olds who are excited for Christmas.
We can see the presents under the tree, but we still have to wait to open them.
“Why isn’t it time yet?”
“How much longer?”
“But I can see it! It’s right there!”
To a small child’s heart, the wait seems endless, but as adults, we know how Christmas works—that when the time is right, the gifts will be opened. It’s going to happen. Just not quite yet.
If you are waiting right now, don’t allow the enemy to push you into discouragement.
There is an end to this wait. You will get to open those gifts not too long from now, because the God who promised these things is faithful.
You will get to see His faithfulness firsthand.
You will get to see His goodness and how much He is taking care of you.
One day…
Your dreams will be fulfilled.
You will see the things God told you about in advance.
You will look back and realize He did everything He said He was going to do, and how He did it was lovely.
Take courage, beloved child of God.
You are going to see His faithfulness and the fulfillment of His promise.
In the meantime, here is a simple prayer to help your heart be more at rest during the waiting:
Father God, thank You for the promise You have given me. I know You are faithful, and I know You will do what You promised when the time is right. Until then, I pray according to the words of Jesus: I give You the burden of waiting, so I can have Your rest. I take Your yoke upon me, because it is easy and light, and it looks like refreshment, not fear and weariness. In the name of Jesus, amen.
