Week of March 25, 2019
MONDAY
Luke 22:52–53
Then Jesus spoke to the chief priests, the captains of the temple guard and the elders, who had come to seek Him. “Am I a dangerous revolutionary, that you come with swords and clubs to arrest Me? Why did I not get arrested in the temple? I was there every day, but this is your time, the time when the power of darkness reigns.”
There are times when darkness reigns and everything goes wrong. You do not see the way out, and it seems that God has abandoned you, that evil prevailed in your life.
But remember that after they killed Jesus, He rose again on the third day and had a victory you get to enjoy.
The night gets darker before the dawn. So have faith—light is coming!
Pray like this: Father, I thank You because Your Word encourages me and strengthens me to endure this momentary trial. The same power that raised Jesus raises me in victory today. I believe that light overcomes all darkness. In the name of Jesus, amen.
Blessed Monday!
TUESDAY
1 Corinthians 10:12–13
If you think you are firm, be careful not to fall. The temptations you face in your life are not different from what others go through. And God is faithful; He will not allow the temptation to be greater than you can bear. When you are tempted, He will show you a way out, so you can resist those temptations.
We all face temptations to do the wrong thing, and when we do what we know we shouldn’t, we wind up with unwanted consequences, setbacks, headaches, and dislikes.
The temptations seem attractive in the moment, but the final results are always negative.
God not only says that you can resist temptation, but you will always have an exit from temptation, so you can do things well and with permanent results.
Pray like this: Father God, I ask for forgiveness for my past sins. I recognize that no temptation is beyond my strength, and I ask for Your help so I can always choose the correct way out and the results are good and permanent. I ask You in the name of Jesus, amen.
Blessed Tuesday!
WEDNESDAY
Psalm 143:8–10
Let me hear every morning about Your inexhaustible love, because I trust in You. Show me where I should go, because I surrender to You. Rescue me from my enemies, Lord; I run to You so You can hide me. Teach me to do Your will, because You are my God. May Your good Spirit take me forward with firm steps.
King David had an extraordinary way to talk to God and make his requests!
He said, “In You I trust.” God had saved him from death many times, and David waited for the Lord’s care every day.
“Show me where I must go.”
“Rescue me and hide me from my enemies.”
“Teach me to do Your will so I can walk steadfast in life.”
Those are words that you can incorporate into your language every morning as you seek the help of God, so you can walk in safe ways.
Pray like this: Father, You are my God. In You I trust. Teach me Your ways so that everything goes well. Free me from all evil. In the name of Jesus, amen.
Blessed Wednesday!
THURSDAY
2 Corinthians 12:8–10
Three times I have asked God to take away this suffering, but God has answered me: “My love is all you need. My power is shown in weakness.” Therefore, I prefer to feel proud of my weakness, so that the power of Christ shows itself in me. I am glad to be weak, to be insulted and persecuted, and to have needs and difficulties because I am faithful to Christ. For what makes me strong is to recognize that I am weak.
The apostle Paul says that we are strengthened when we are suffering and realize how weak and frail we are.
Every problem you’re facing right now is not to destroy you, but so the power of God can manifest in your life. He is always by your side so that you may come to Him, overcome each test, and grow and advance in life.
Remember, with God everything is possible!
Pray like this: Father God, in the midst of my weakness I recognize that I need your power. That’s why I put myself in Your hands so You can help me overcome any difficulty. In the name of Jesus, amen.
Blessed Thursday!
FRIDAY
John 8:4–11
“Master,” they said to Jesus, “this woman was caught in the act of adultery. The law of Moses commands us to stone her; what do You say?” As they continued to demand an answer, He sat up again and said, “He who has never sinned cast the first stone!” Upon hearing this, the accusers retired one after the other, beginning with the older ones, until Jesus and the woman were alone in the middle of the crowd. Then Jesus got up again and said to the woman: “Where are those who accused you? Did not one of them condemn you?” “Not one, Lord,” she said. “Me neither,” said Jesus. “Go away and sin no more.”
Sin brings negative consequences for a person: social and sometimes judicial condemnation, pain, loneliness, illness, guilt.
But Jesus is always at the side of the sinner, not to condemn but to forgive, to save, to give a new opportunity.
Approach Jesus. Only He can tell you, “You are forgiven and free. Do not do it anymore.”
Pray like this: Lord, I ask for forgiveness for my sins. I repent and I don’t want to do those things anymore. Help me in this new stage and free me from all evil. In the name of Jesus, amen.
Blessed Friday!
SATURDAY
Mark 4:38–40
Jesus was asleep in the back of the boat, with His head resting on a pillow. The disciples woke Him up: “Master! Do You not care if we drown?” they shouted. When Jesus woke up, He rebuked the wind and said to the waves: “Silence! Calm down!” Suddenly, the wind stopped and there was a great calm. Then He asked them, “Why are you afraid? Do you have no faith?”
When a strong storm breaks out in your life, there is no human force that can control it. Hell wants to sink you, drown you, and destroy your work.
If you cannot control the storm, it will control your life. You can keep trying to paddle alone against all odds, or you can ask for help from Jesus like His disciples did.
Go “awaken” Jesus. You don’t have to keep rowing alone.
Pray like this: Lord, I need Your help to calm this storm. Your Word is enough for me to reach a good port. I know that in Your hands I can walk calmly. In the name of Jesus, amen.
Blessed Saturday!
SUNDAY
Mark 10:48–52
“Be quiet!” many shouted at him, but he shouted even louder: “Son of David, have pity on me!” When Jesus heard it, He stopped and said: “Tell him to come.” So they called the blind man. “Cheer up,” they said. “Come on, He calls you!” “What do you want Me to do for you?” Jesus asked. “My Rabbi,” said the blind man, “I want to see!” And Jesus said to him: “You can go, because your faith has healed you.” Instantly the man could see and followed Jesus on the road.
Physical blindness is painful, but spiritual blindness is tragic, because we are limited as we try to make sound decisions. That is why Jesus wants to give us sight in the broad sense of the word.
When you approach God, you receive vision and your ways are made clear.
The reverse is also true. When you are far from Him, the darkness makes you err because you aren’t able to see clearly where you’re placing your feet.
Pray like this: Lord, like the blind man, I ask You, “Have compassion on me. I want to see to make good decisions and to take the right course.” In the name of Jesus, amen.
Blessed Sunday!
