What Are You Declaring over Your Finances?
Our words are power statements. We can speak words that invite the light of God into our life, or we can speak words that invite the kind of life He doesn’t want for us.
Bill Johnson has an interesting way of looking at words and how they affect us:
I’ve watched certain individuals…and what they think is an attack of the enemy is only them having to eat the food they created with their own speech. They think it’s people ignoring their gift. They think they’re just not being recognized or valued. They think it’s just the enemy opposing their gift—when really all it is, is they are eating a meal that they created with their own words. So what do you want to eat?
We get to choose the kind of life we live. The words we speak over our dating life, family, household, job, or whatever else are more important than we realize. In the area of finances, we need to make sure we are speaking life.
We can speak words of doubt and despair over our finances: “I will never see my dreams come true. I will always be in debt. There is no hope.”
Or we can speak words that line up with what the Bible says: “We will always have enough because God is with us. He is taking care of us financially. He is providing the jobs or business ideas we need. We have His wisdom.”
Money Declarations
The tongue has the power of life and death,
and those who love it will eat its fruit. (Prov. 18:21 NIV)
Here are some Bible-based statements you can speak over your finances:
You are the Lord of our household (Josh. 24:15).
You are our God; therefore, we will have more than enough financially (Deut. 28:11).
We have a Matthew 6 life. We don’t have to wonder what we will eat or what we will wear, because You are taking care of us.
Everything we put our hands to is blessed because of You (Deut. 28:8).
You are causing financial matters to work out for us (Rom. 8:28).
You are causing us to flourish (Ps. 92:12–13).
You are teaching us how to make wealth (Deut. 8:18).
We are going to see Your goodness (Ps. 27:13).
You have good things in store for me and my family (Jer. 29:11).
As we knock, the door will open. All we have to do is ask (1 John 5:14–15).
You will supply all our needs (Phil. 4:19).
Don’t be afraid to use your faith and speak good things over your finances. God has a wonderful plan in mind for you, and you can trust Him completely, even with money.
