The Lord loves us more than we realize. His love for us is so tender and so big that we get to experience it in highly practical ways.

For instance, Psalm 127:2 is a beautiful description of God’s “very practical” love: 

It is useless for you to work so hard
    from early morning until late at night,
anxiously working for food to eat;
    for God gives rest to his loved ones. (NLT)

God is taking care of us, and He is giving us rest. He is causing things to work out well for us.

We are not the “machine” behind the blessings of God. We don’t have to make them happen or wear ourselves out trying to force them. He is the One who fulfills His Word. That is how much He loves us. That is how important we are to His heart—we get to rest, while He does the work.

The Lord himself will fight for you. Just stay calm. (Ex. 14:14 NLT)

Whatever you are anxious about today, God is taking care of you. You get to rest in His love, and He will do the hard work of providing for you and fighting all your enemies.

Think of how many ways Psalm 127:2 could apply to your life! Where are you “anxiously working hard” when He wants to take care of you? What about your dating life, your job, your marriage, your friendships, your family and their opinion of you?

Working in your own strength is not the answer. Your help is from the Lord. He is even called the Helper. That is one of His beautiful names.  

But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in My name, He will teach you all things, and bring to your remembrance all things that I said to you. (John 14:26 NKJV)

You, beloved child of God, are going to be just fine. You are going to make it. You are going to succeed. There is no possibility that you will fail—because God is helping you. His heart is for you. He is your support. He is your abundance. 

The enemy would like to work you to the bone and exhaust you. He will do everything he can to make you think your safety and provision come from you. But the Bible says these things come from God:

• The truth about your safety: Isaiah 8:13–14

• The truth about your provision: Deuteronomy 8:11–18

The love of the Lord is practical in all ways. He abounds in goodness, and He eagerly pours out that goodness on all His kids, including you. His love is already in the place where you are anxious.

Rest in His love today, and remember it isn’t up to you to fix everything. Let the Lord take care of you. That is exactly what He wants to do.
