Planting Seeds of Peace in Your Life (Prayers and Declarations)
Do you long for PEACE in your life?
Would you love to hear God’s voice better, be more confident, and really figure out who you are as His child?
Peace and identity go hand in hand. When we’re at peace, it’s easier to know who we are. John Paul Jackson used to say, “Peace is the potting soil of revelation.” In other words, being at peace allows us to hear God’s voice better—and at the end of the day, God is the One who tells us who we are. So peace plays an important role in issues of identity.
Planting Seeds of Peace in Your Life
For what you plant will always be the very thing you harvest. (Gal. 6:7 TPT)
What we plant we will eventually harvest. So if we want more peace in our lives, we need to start planting the seeds of peace.
Here are a few ideas and statements that can help you “plant peace” in your life, so one day you’ll reap an abundant harvest of peace. Speak these things out loud on a regular basis:
I am learning to look at God instead of all my fears (Ps. 16:8).
I am learning to focus my mind on godly things instead of the things that worry me, dry me up, drain me, or cause me to be afraid of the future (Phil. 4:8).
When something scares me, I take it directly to God in prayer (Phil. 4:6–7).
I am learning to trust Him with every single concern that comes my way (Ps. 55:22).
I am learning that God is trustworthy in all things (Ps. 33:4).
I am learning that I don’t have to do anything on my own. I get to lean on Him and trust Him with everything (Jer. 17:5, 7–8).
I am learning more about God’s ways and how He does things (Ps. 119:165).
I am starting to realize that everything about my heavenly Father is good, pleasing, and perfect (Rom. 12:2).
I am learning that what God says is much more important than what the world says (Isa. 30:15–18).
I am learning to love God with everything I am (Matt. 22:37–38).
I am learning to put Him first in my life (Ps. 37:4).
I am learning that every time I feel anxious, I get to stop and turn my gaze back to Jesus (Isa. 41:10).
I am learning that I actually need His voice (Matt. 4:4).
I am learning to listen to Him (Ps. 27:8).
Activity #1 for this week: The next time you start to feel anxious, remind yourself that God is with you. Say out loud, “No, I put all my trust in God. He will help me and lead me. He will show me what I need to do.”
Activity #2 for this week: Spend time with God and practice listening to His voice. Go to a quiet place and pray something like this: “Lord, I want to hear You more. Please teach me how to hear You and how You like to speak to me.” Write down whatever comes to you that seems like it might be from Him: thoughts, impressions, a feeling, a Scripture verse, etc.
Also, trust that He will show you how to hear Him better. Sometimes His answers come immediately, and sometimes they seem to “pop up” later, when you’re just going through your daily routine. So keep your heart ready and expect the answer to come. His voice is beautiful and brings peace.
