How to Let a Girl Know You’re Interested in Dating Her
When Leon and I were first getting to know each other, he lived in the United States and I lived in Ecuador. As you might imagine, we didn’t have a lot of “face time” during the first several months. But whenever he came to visit me, I noticed something: I loved the way he looked at me. It was a look that instantly let me know he liked me, that he was drawn to me. It answered my questions and let me know exactly what he was thinking about me.
If you’re interested in a woman and you’ve been praying about it and feel like it’s time to take a step forward, here are a few things you can do to communicate your interest.
Look Her in the Eye
When a man looks at a woman with adoration, respect, and interest, it communicates to her, “Wow. I think you’re just amazing.” In most cases, she will be able to see your attraction in your face, and if she is interested in you in return, this will take you a long way. Look her in the eye and let her see your heart.
Figure Out What She Likes
Intentionally begin noticing the “little things” about this woman. Learn what she likes and doesn’t like; become detail oriented where she is concerned.
What does she enjoy doing? What are her hobbies? What means a lot to her? Whatever she is interested in, you show her that she’s a priority to you as you remember her details.
People like to joke that men are not good with details. Though that obviously isn’t true with every man, it has become a common opinion. So when a woman realizes a man knows her details, it is a clear sign to her that he is interested.
Get Out and Do Things with Her
After determining what she likes, invite her to do some of those things with you. If she likes hiking, take her hiking. If she likes bicycling, arrange to ride together. Get out and explore. Do things in groups, and also spend time with her when it’s just the two of you. Learning what she likes and inviting her to do those things is an excellent way of letting her know you’re interested.
Try to go to church together as well. Invite her to sit with you during the service, and take her to church events with you: picnics, small group outings, volunteer opportunities, etc.
Be Interested in Her Family
When you communicate that you’re interested in getting to know a woman’s family, you are showing her that you’re interested in her foundations: what makes her her.
In my home country of Ecuador, we tend to be strongly family oriented. If a guy is interested in a girl, he will spend time not just with her but also with her family. Here in the United States, it’s often a little different, and I love it when a guy who is interested in a girl makes a point of getting to know her family as well.
If you can find a natural, easy way of telling this woman that you would like to meet her family and get to know that part of her, it will communicate to her that you are interested in being more than just friends.
Use Words
Some women are good at “reading between the lines” when it comes to relationships, and some are not. Some really are not, and they may not have a clue that you’re interested in them at all.
No matter where the woman you like falls on this scale, it can be good to speak plainly with her and let her know that you would like to get to know her better. Ask her outright what she likes. Find out what you have in common. Take your time and think about ways you could communicate better with this woman you find so intriguing.
Be Sure to Pray About It
In the end, the most important thing you can do in this process is pray and commit your interest in this woman to your heavenly Father, who loves you and has good plans for you. Try to find out what He thinks about you, about her, and about the two of you together. Tell Him what you’re thinking and hoping for. Ask Him what you should do next.
And then, when you feel like God is giving you the green light, take a risk.
