Taking a Risk with Your Love Life
Taking a risk with your love life can mean different things, but it always means trusting the Lord.
There are times when taking a risk looks like trusting God when He tells you to be patient. “It isn’t time yet, but you don’t need to be afraid. You can trust Me to take care of your heart and bring you the right person at the right time.”
At other times, taking a risk might mean trusting God when He tells you to move forward. “Dear child, you can trust Me in this relationship. I’ve brought you something good. You are going to love this.”
Taking a risk could also mean pursuing the Lord and going after the healing you need. “I know you are scared, but you can trust Me with your heart because I know what you need.”
Or maybe taking a risk with your dating life means dating someone you thought you weren’t interested in—yet they are the person God has for you! That is what happened with Salomé and Leon, the founders of BTO:
Soon after meeting Leon, I discovered he was an amazing Christian guy and—this part I knew the moment I saw him—he was really cute! I could tell he was a catch, but I didn’t think he was right for me. He didn’t seem like my type.
If I had stuck with that conclusion—“This guy is just not my type”—I wouldn’t have opened my heart to him. I would have missed out on a beautiful future I really, really wanted. Even more important, I would have missed out on God’s best for me. As time went on, I found out Leon was God’s type for me, and so he became my type.
The Bible is very clear that anything involving the Lord takes faith. In other words, following His leading will probably seem risky, and you will need to trust Him!
If you want to have a good, strong, godly relationship one day, get ready for it to take faith on your part!
It is impossible to please God without faith. Anyone who wants to come to him must believe that God exists and that he rewards those who sincerely seek him. (Heb. 11:6 NLT)
Meditating on His Word
Is God asking you to take a risk with your love life?
Is He encouraging you to step out of your comfort zone and trust Him?
What does His wisdom look like in your situation?
This week, meditate on the following Scriptures, and ask the Holy Spirit what they could mean in light of dating and the person He has for you. When He speaks to you, write down what He says.
For we live by believing and not by seeing. (2 Cor. 5:7 NLT)
Be strong and courageous and do it. Do not be afraid and do not be dismayed, for the Lord God, even my God, is with you. He will not leave you or forsake you, until all the work for the service of the house of the Lord is finished. (1 Chron. 28:20 NIV)
Be strong, be courageous,
all you that hope in the Lord. (Ps. 31:24 GNT)
