MONDAY
The Blessing of God’s Voice
Genesis 26:1–2, 12–13 (NLT)
A severe famine now struck the land, as had happened before in Abraham’s time. So Isaac moved to Gerar, where Abimelech, king of the Philistines, lived.
The Lord appeared to Isaac and said, “Do not go down to Egypt, but do as I tell you…
When Isaac planted his crops that year, he harvested a hundred times more grain than he planted, for the Lord blessed him. He became a very rich man, and his wealth continued to grow.
When things get tough, many of us want to abandon ship and escape the situation by leaving it behind. We think about moving away, changing churches, calling it quits with our boyfriend or girlfriend, getting a new job, etc.
Sometimes we take drastic measures only to realize later, “Oh. I never thought to ask God about this. I didn’t ask Him for wisdom.” We don’t always think to seek Him as the first option.
Even though Egypt probably seemed like a great plan to Isaac because of the famine, God told him, “Don’t go to that country. Instead, do exactly what I tell you.”
We need to listen to God closely and use discernment to know the season we’re in. There are times when leaving the problem behind is the right thing to do.
But at other times, we need to plant our feet and say, “No. I am not going to give up on what I know God has called me to do. I am going to fight for this thing—because I know what He told me.”
When Isaac listened to God instead of his fears, God poured out blessing upon him. Listening to our heavenly Father always produces an abundant harvest.
Today’s prayer: Father God, I want You to guide me in every situation in my life. Please grant me wisdom in this area specifically: ____________. Thank You for Your help and endless love. I look forward to being with You this week. In the name of Jesus, amen.
May your Monday be blessed!
TUESDAY
God’s Promises for You
Genesis 1:28 (NIV)
God blessed them and said to them, “Be fruitful and increase in number; fill the earth and subdue it. Rule over the fish in the sea and the birds in the sky and over every living creature that moves on the ground.”
The first time God addressed humanity, He blessed them.
His heart has never changed toward us—He still desires to extravagantly love and bless His people (Ps. 145:9).
Perhaps you’re going through a difficult season when it seems like you no longer have God’s blessing and favor. Or perhaps you’ve never felt close to Him or like He wanted to bless you.
If that’s the case, there’s a solution. When our hearts can’t seem to connect with God’s love for us, it’s a sign we need to fill ourselves with His truth. We need to figure out what is true and then stare at it.
Choose to trust God’s Word more than what you’re thinking and feeling (Prov. 3:5–6). Search for His promises in Scripture and hide them in your heart: Meditate on them, deeply consider them, fill your thoughts with them. Let them grow inside you until they start producing fruit.
Your heavenly Father loves you and wants to bless you. No matter how you feel today, that’s the truth.
Today’s prayer: Father God, please help me to hear Your voice and find the verses in Your Word that apply to me and my situation. I want to know how much You love me, so my heart opens up and I start to live in a way I never thought possible. Help me believe Your Word. In the name of Jesus, amen.
May your Tuesday be blessed!
WEDNESDAY
The Real Enemy Isn’t a Person
Ephesians 6:12 (NIV)
For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms.
When we’re confused and hurting because of someone else’s actions, it can be hard to remember the person is not the problem. They aren’t the enemy in this situation. The real enemy is something we can’t see because it’s part of the spiritual realm.
We need to be careful and guard our hearts so we don’t end up building cases against people and trying to prove to God why they aren’t worthy. He knows exactly what’s going on inside them. He knows their story and what the enemy did to make that person start to think and behave this way.
When your family, business, job, or relationship is unjustly attacked, remember who the true enemy is.
And then remember that God is bigger than anything you ever thought possible. He is with you and He wants to help you.
Today’s prayer: Father, thank You for Your help! In Your name, I can face everything that’s trying to intimidate me. I choose to place all my trust in You and remember Your promises of victory. In the name of Jesus, amen.
May your Wednesday be blessed!
THURSDAY
Your Talents Matter to God
Matthew 17:27 (NLT)
Go down to the lake and throw in a line. Open the mouth of the first fish you catch, and you will find a large silver coin. Take it and pay the tax for both of us.
At the beginning of Peter’s story in the Gospels, he was just a fisherman. When he met Jesus, his life changed forever—but God never forgot Peter’s talent for being out on the water and casting his net. In Matthew 17, He worked a miracle with the very thing Peter loved to do.
Your talents and skills are important to your heavenly Father. Whatever He’s gifted you in—dancing, swimming, fishing, writing, singing, taking care of people—you don’t need to separate it from God and think He can’t use it. He’s the One who made you, and all the parts of your heart are important to Him.
Put your talents in the faithful hands of God. Don’t be afraid to trust Him with the desires He Himself planted inside you.
Today’s prayer: Lord, thank You for this special thing You’ve put in my heart. Please come and meet me in it. Show me what You’re thinking with this talent, and I ask that I would be able to use it to show people what You’re like. In the name of Jesus, amen.
May your Thursday be blessed!
FRIDAY
You Matter More Than You Realize
Jeremiah 15:19 (NIV)
If you repent, I will restore you
that you may serve me;
if you utter worthy, not worthless, words,
you will be my spokesman.
You matter more than you realize. Not just because you are important to God’s heart, but also because He wants to use you to minister to other people. You’re going to help change lives and restore hope.
We are the body of Jesus Christ on the earth (1 Cor. 12:27). We get to touch people with His hands, hug them with His arms, and tell them about the gospel with His words. God will use us to honor, bless, and show love to the people around us.
Because of Jesus, we give money to the poor, volunteer in soup kitchens, go on mission trips, and tell other people about what God has done.
Jesus is also why we get up and go to work in the morning, why we live the way we do—it isn’t just for our benefit. We are God’s “spokesmen,” like He told Jeremiah. Everywhere we go, we get to show people who Jesus is.
So anytime you start to feel forgotten or like you don’t matter, remember what God’s Word says. You matter more than you realize.
Today’s prayer: Lord, thank You for how You love me and that I get to live for more than myself. I want to bless the people around me, so please fill me up with Your words and Your heart, so I can make a difference. In the name of Jesus, amen.
May your Friday be blessed!
SATURDAY
Agree with God
Matthew 18:19 (NIV)
Again, truly I tell you that if two of you on earth agree about anything they ask for, it will be done for them by my Father in heaven.
The power of agreement is a spiritual law that functions in all areas of life: your family, your business, your church, your marriage, even your relationship with yourself. There is extraordinary power in agreement.
When we agree with God, amazing things happen. “Yes, Lord, heal this person! Yes, Lord—please comfort this family because they’re hurting right now. Yes, Lord, I know You love me so much!”
But problems arise when we agree with things that are not God. These are lies whispered to us by the enemy. They seem true, but they don’t line up with what God says in His Word. They sound like this: “I can’t trust God to take care of me. God doesn’t really love me.”
Find out what God is saying about you and cling to His voice. Agree with Him and come out of agreement with the enemy.
Today’s prayer: Father God, thank You for never giving up on me. I want to believe what You are saying. Please open my ears and my heart to hear Your words of love for me. I believe Your blessing is coming! In the name of Jesus, amen.
May your Saturday be blessed!
SUNDAY
Choose Rest
Psalm 116:7 (NLT)
Let my soul be at rest again,
for the Lord has been good to me.
When is the last time you rested? Not slept, but truly rested, allowing yourself just to relax?
Everything in life is better with rest, including dating and marriage relationships. There’s a reason God told His people to observe the Sabbath (Ex. 20:8).
If you feel exhausted, or the problems you’re dealing with have escalated and you just don’t know what to do, it is time to put all your worries and cares in God’s hands.
Trust Him with the scary question. Commit the relationship to Him. Turn your attention away from the worry and focus on the Lord instead.
Every soldier needs downtime. Even the most skilled individual on the planet needs rest and recuperation.
Stepping out of the battle so you can rest is not a sign of weakness. It will help you see how the Lord has been good to you.
Today’s prayer: Lord, help me to take time to rest in You, so I will be able to see Your goodness more clearly. Thank You that I don’t have to fight this battle alone—You are with me and You know exactly what I need. In the name of Jesus, amen.
May your Sunday be blessed!
