Declaring the Truth of God in Times of Fear
Can you sense the fear in the air? So many people are afraid right now.
In a time of worldwide fear and trauma, when our hearts feel overcome—it’s good to praise God out loud.
Worshiping Him is the answer whenever we’re afraid. Not only is it a “sacrifice of praise” like the Bible talks about, but worship draws us out of our earthly circumstances to set our focus on the Lord. Fear tells lies, but God is truth and His words are truth.
The following declarations will help you turn your attention to God and remember what’s real. Read the declarations out loud. You may want to do this every day, or even every few hours, until your sense of fear lifts.
I choose to put my hope in God. All my hope is in Him (Ps. 43:5).
The Lord works miracles and does impossible things (Matt. 19:26).
The Lord is the Healer in every family, every situation, every pain. I can expect Him to be my Healer (Ex. 15:26; Jer. 17:14; Matt. 15:30).
The Lord is trustworthy (Ps. 33:4).
The Lord is with me (Josh. 1:9).
The Lord comforts those who feel broken (Ps. 34:18).
The Lord is my consuming peace (John 14:27; Deut. 4:24).
Everything God does is perfect. He is my refuge (Ps. 18:30).
His ways are good, pleasing, and perfect (Rom. 12:2).
All over the world we wait for Yahweh’s grace (Isa. 40:31 TPT).
The Lord shields me both behind and before. His hand is on me (Ps. 139:5).
The Lord can take ANY situation and cause it to work out for good (Rom. 8:28).
The Lord takes horrible situations and uses them to produce life (Gen. 45:5–7).
I look to God to show me the way and keep me safe (2 Chron. 20:12).
I place all my trust in God, and I don’t allow fear to trouble my heart (John 14:1).
For the rest of this week, remind yourself of the truth every day.
The next time you start feeling afraid, stop and say, “No, I don’t have to listen to the voice of fear. I have made the Lord my refuge, and I know I can trust Him in all things. He is faithful and powerful. He is my choice, not fear.”
Final Thoughts
Our God, will you not judge them? For we have no power to face this vast army that is attacking us. We do not know what to do, but our eyes are on you. (2 Chron. 20:12 NIV)
In times of fear, we have two choices:
We can do what fear says and become afraid.
Or we can put our eyes on God and choose to trust Him. We can draw near to Him and experience His drawing near to us, which is life.
Today, choose the Lord over fear. Be bold. Be wise. Arrange your heart in such a way that you can hear what the Lord is saying even when other voices are shouting at you.
