Sometimes God asks us to trust Him in ways we didn’t expect. What then?

We’re going through life, and suddenly something changes—or it looks like it could change. Maybe it’s something with work or our living situation or a relationship. In those moments, we have to choose how we will respond:

Will we trust the Lord? Will we make Him the rock of our lives? Or will we go a different way?

Even if the change is good and something we’ve hoped for, we still have to decide if we will trust the Lord in the midst of that change.

Here are a few things to remember the next time you realize something is changing, and God is inviting you on an adventure with Him. Read these statements slowly and really think about how they apply to you.

1. The Lord is GOOD. So very, very good.

O give thanks to the Lord, for He is good;
For His lovingkindness is everlasting. (1 Chron. 16:34 NASB)

2. He cares for you with all His heart, and He wants to carry your worries for you.

Give your burdens to the Lord,
    and he will take care of you.
    He will not permit the godly to slip and fall. (Ps. 55:22 NLT)

3. He works out everything for your good. Even the bad things.

So we are convinced that every detail of our lives is continually woven together to fit into God’s perfect plan of bringing good into our lives, for we are his lovers who have been called to fulfill his designed purpose. (Rom. 8:28 TPT)

4. The world around you is filled up with the goodness of God. Look and you will see His goodness.

The Lord loves what is righteous and just;
    his constant love fills the earth. (Ps. 33:5 GNT)

5. He’s the answer for your eyes. You’ll find your dreams fulfilled as you look at Him.

My eyes are always on the Lord,
    for he rescues me from the traps of my enemies. (Ps. 25:15 NLT)

I have set the Lord always before me;
Because He is at my right hand I shall not be moved. (Ps. 16:8 NKJV)

6. The Lord knows where you need to go even when you don’t.

Trust in the Lord completely,
and do not rely on your own opinions.
With all your heart rely on him to guide you,
and he will lead you in every decision you make. (Prov. 3:5 TPT)

7. He loves to give wisdom and understanding.

The starting point for acquiring wisdom
is to be consumed with awe as you worship Jehovah-God.
To receive the revelation of the Holy One,
you must come to the one who has living-understanding. (Prov. 9:10 TPT)

8. He isn’t tired of you, and His compassion for you will never stop.

Do you not know?
    Have you not heard?
The Lord is the everlasting God,
    the Creator of the ends of the earth.
He will not grow tired or weary,
    and his understanding no one can fathom. (Isa. 40:28 NIV)

The Lord’s lovingkindnesses indeed never cease,
For His compassions never fail.
They are new every morning;
Great is Your faithfulness. (Lam. 3:22–23 NASB)

Journaling About Your Trust in the Lord

Where is the Lord asking you to trust Him? Have the two of you talked about it yet?

In your journal, write about this thing that is changing in your life, and ask the Lord this question: “What do You want me to know today?” Journal what He tells or shows you.

When you know what He’s saying to your heart, take special note of His words. Hold on to them tightly, and over the next week, keep reminding yourself of them.
