What Is God Saying About You? (Prayers & Declarations)

When you pause and “check” your heart, do you feel like God is for you? That He fights for you and says good things about you?

Even though the Bible clearly says God is for us, countless believers don’t really believe it. We can have a skewed image of Him that causes us to pull away.

“I know who You are, and You scare me.” Or “I’m going to show You that I’m worthy of Your attention.” Sometimes we respond in fear or with a religious mindset without even realizing it. Fear and a religious spirit like to hide in our hearts and thought processes.

This week at BTO, we’re praying that you would come to understand a simple truth: that you are dearly loved and God is saying incredible things over you. Good things. Amazing things—things you can accept without fear or question, because they’re true.

So let’s practice believing the good things God is saying! Read the following declarations out loud:

1. I am not what shame says I am—I am holy and dearly loved. I look like my heavenly Father, and His light shines in me. I am clean and holy because of HIS work inside me, and His work is trustworthy.

You are always and dearly loved by God! So robe yourself with virtues of God, since you have been divinely chosen to be holy. Be merciful as you endeavor to understand others, and be compassionate, showing kindness toward all. Be gentle and humble, unoffendable in your patience with others. (Col. 3:12 TPT)

Don’t be afraid to look at yourself and see the blood of Jesus instead of your mistakes.

So many people see only the issue or the sin—when Jesus takes away our sins. His blood washes us completely clean, and He’s made us the righteousness of God (2 Cor. 5:21).

2. I am not what fear says I am, but I am filled with power, love, and self-control. God has given me His Spirit, who enables me to follow after Him with all my heart.

For God will never give you the spirit of fear, but the Holy Spirit who gives you mighty power, love, and self-control. (2 Tim. 1:7)

Fear has a loud voice…but that’s all it has. It is a shadow without any substance, and the light always knows how to make shadows flee.

You are a child of light. God took you out of darkness and deposited you in the kingdom of His Son (Col. 1:13). Never be afraid to be exactly who and what your heavenly Father says you are. When the Bible declares, “This is who you are as a child of God,” remember the Lord knows best.

3. I am never alone, never cast off, never forgotten, never without hope or aid. God is with me, and I can expect His strength and His help in every situation. I don’t look at my life and feel despair because I know He’s with me and will help me.

Do not yield to fear, for I am always near.
Never turn your gaze from me, for I am your faithful God.
I will infuse you with my strength
and help you in every situation.
I will hold you firmly with my victorious right hand. (Isa. 41:10)

God is right here with you to help you and strengthen you. The next time fear tries to get your attention, refuse to give it room in your thoughts. “Do not yield to fear,” as The Passion Translation puts it in Isaiah 41:10.

You never have any reason to fear—because you are protected and guarded by the Faithful One, who has a vested interest in your success. He loves you tenderly, and your life matters to Him more than you know.

Here’s our prayer for you this week:

Dear Father,

Thank You for the person reading this right now. We ask that You would open their ears and their heart so they can hear what YOU are saying about them. Not what the past says or what the world says—but what You’re saying. Your voice is the only trustworthy one.

May they come to understand Your love for them at deeper level and choose to place their trust completely in You.

Before you go!

Do you “think too much” where God’s love is concerned? Do you pick it apart and try to arrange it instead of simply accepting it the way a little child would?

In a recent article titled “The Extravagant Kindness of God,” Bill and Sue Frisbie wrote:

Several years ago Bob Jones said to my wife and me, “Our heavenly Father is a family Man, and He wants to move in with us and have a family.”

“Wow,” I replied. “Yeah, that’s good.”

But then Bob added, “He can’t do that in the churches right now because there’s too much mind power.”

“Too much mind power” covers a lot of ground, and I think it’s a key reason so many of us have a hard time understanding the true depths of God’s passion for us. Trying to earn His love definitely falls into the category of “too much mind power.”

In certain ways, the Creator is shockingly simple—to the point of seeming childlike to the worldly mind.

His ways can seem foolish to those who don’t know or want Him, but to those who do want Him, they are incredible life.

This week set your focus on God, and ask Him to help you believe what He’s saying about you. That tiny prayer might just change your life.
