MONDAY

The Good Things God Does

Psalm 103:2 (NLT)

Let all that I am praise the Lord;
may I never forget the good things he does for me.

The world doesn’t look to God for help. It doesn’t make room for Him and what He’s doing.

But He wants to make life beautiful for us. When He is our focus, life is always beautiful.

This very day, all these things are true for you:

  • God loves you more than you expect!

  • He delights in you beyond your comprehension.

  • He is not afraid of the places in your heart that feel afraid and ashamed.

  • He has set you free from darkness.

  • He forgives your sins.

  • He is your Healer forever.

  • He pours out good things into your life!

Whatever you’re dealing with right now, remember God is with you and wants to hear your voice. He didn’t save you and then leave you to fend for yourself—He is right here, ready to sit down and talk about life with you.

Today’s prayer: Lord, I bless Your holy name! Thank You for everything You’ve done for me. You have given me so much—more than I realize. Please open my eyes to see the special things You’re doing for me. In the name of Jesus, amen.

May your Monday be blessed!

TUESDAY

Radiant with Joy

Psalm 34:5 (NLT)

Those who look to him for help will be radiant with joy;
no shadow of shame will darken their faces.

When King Jehoshaphat learned that a vast army had come to attack him, he was terrified. But the first thing he did was turn to the Lord for guidance (2 Chron. 20:3).

David did a similar thing in 1 Samuel 30 when he and his men returned to their town and discovered their enemy had destroyed it. They’d lost everything, including their wives and children. The men became angry and wanted to stone David, but he “found strength in the Lord his God” (v. 6).

From the world’s perspective, both of these situations looked hopeless. But God had other plans. He acted on behalf of His people and saved them.

The Lord wants to save you, too. When you’re upset or frightened and don’t know what to do, turn your attention away from the problem and put it on God. Look at His face and seek His help. His joy will meet you in the very place where you thought you had no hope.

Today’s prayer: Father God, I recognize that I can’t succeed on my own. I need You, Your good plans, and the faithful way You take care of me. Today I look away from my problem and raise my eyes to You, trusting You to come and save me. In the name of Jesus, amen.

May your Tuesday be blessed!

WEDNESDAY

An Open Heart

Matthew 6:21 (NIV)

For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.

Your heart is a treasure worthy of protecting. God is after your heart because it has great worth to Him, and He wants to keep it safe.

We begin living the way we were created to when our hearts are soft and open to our Father.

If you look at your heart today and it doesn’t seem “soft” to you, one way you can begin to open your heart is by taking time to speak truth. Intentionally communicate to God and to the person you love why they are important to you.

What do you love about God? What is your favorite aspect of who He is? Telling Him these things is worship.

What do you treasure about this person you’re dating or married to? Why did you choose them above everyone else? Let them know the good things you’re thinking about them.

Practice speaking truth from your heart, and watch how God honors your efforts, even if they’re small.

Today’s prayer: Father God, I want to treasure You more and more until every area of my life looks like You. Please teach me how to trust You and open up my heart to You. Become my greatest delight. In the name of Jesus, amen.

May your Wednesday be blessed!

THURSDAY

Dating and Forgiveness

Isaiah 43:25 (NIV)

I, even I, am he who blots out
your transgressions, for my own sake,
and remembers your sins no more.

Dating isn’t always easy. Especially when a relationship ends poorly, it can be hard to have faith and try again.

After a bad breakup, we sometimes want to hide. We tend to say things like, “Nope. Sorry. I’ve learned my lesson. I’m not going to get hurt like that again.”

But that kind of fearful thinking doesn’t allow God to work the way He wants to work in our lives.

One of the most important gifts you can give yourself—as well as your future relationship—is the freedom of forgiveness.

When we choose to let go of the pain—forgiving the person or people who hurt us and forgiving ourselves for the role we played—we are empowered to be the people God created us to be. We get to start living with joy. Real joy.

Today’s prayer: More than anyone else, Lord, You know exactly how I’ve been hurt by people in the past. Please give me courage and help me to trust You for future things. I know You have good plans for my life. In the name of Jesus, amen.

May your Thursday be blessed!

FRIDAY

Don’t Be Afraid

John 14:27 (NLT)

I am leaving you with a gift—peace of mind and heart. And the peace I give is a gift the world cannot give. So don’t be troubled or afraid.

Fear has a way of shutting people down. It’s possible for us to end up in a situation we don’t want to be in—just because we’re thinking fearfully.

When we’re afraid of taking a risk with a new relationship, we can talk ourselves into staying home, not calling the person back, or not talking to them at church. We hide instead of embracing the adventure.

When we’re afraid we’ll fail at a new job, we might not even try for it, telling ourselves it wouldn’t have worked out anyway.

When we’re afraid God doesn’t really love us, our hearts suffer. They were made for His love, but fear can convince us of the opposite—that we don’t mean anything to Him at all.

Fear can say a whole lot of things that aren’t true.

Is there an area in your life where fear has been talking to you? Take that place to God and ask Him to give you His truth instead.

Today’s prayer: Lord, You know I’ve been struggling with fear in this area: ________. But I don’t want to listen to fear any longer. Please come and give me Your truth. Speak comfort to my heart. Show me passages in Your Word that I can cling to, so I can begin to walk in freedom in this area. In the name of Jesus, amen.

May your Friday be blessed!

SATURDAY

God of Abundant Blessing

Genesis 21:17–19 (NLT)

But God heard the boy crying, and the angel of God called to Hagar from heaven, “Hagar, what’s wrong? Do not be afraid! God has heard the boy crying as he lies there. Go to him and comfort him, for I will make a great nation from his descendants.”

Then God opened Hagar’s eyes, and she saw a well full of water. She quickly filled her water container and gave the boy a drink.

Hagar ran out of water in the desert and didn’t want to watch her son die of thirst. The size of the problem broke her heart, but God stepped in to show her His love. He opened her eyes so she could see His provision.

God always gives to those in need. It may not come when we think it should, and it might not look the way we expect—but it will be very, very good because it’s a gift from His heart.

If you don’t see blessing in your life today, look for God. Call out to Him and ask Him to help you see the solution He has for you. He is the God of blessing. He’s the One who causes streams to start flowing in the desert and barren places to blossom.

Today’s prayer: Lord, when I’m struggling, I trust You to come and save me. Thank You for Your provision. Please open my eyes to see the amazing ways You’re providing for me. In the name of Jesus, amen.

May your Saturday be blessed!

SUNDAY

No God Like You!

Isaiah 64:4 (NLT)

For since the world began,
no ear has heard
and no eye has seen a God like you,
who works for those who wait for him!

What are you worried about right now? What problem or issue is tying up your thoughts?

At this very moment, your God, the Creator of Heaven and earth, is working on your behalf in the very area that scares you.

No one has ever seen anything like God—this incredible Father full of love who wants to take care of your needs. He acts for the one who waits for Him. This means you don’t need to try to fix this problem all by yourself. You don’t need to keep trudging forward alone.

Instead, you can set in God’s hands this worry that is weighing heavily upon your heart. He wants to act as your Father and take care of this problem for you.

Where do you need God to work in your life? Take a few minutes to practice waiting on Him. Drop your worry into His hands and boldly trust Him to help you (Ps. 55:22).

Help is on the way. Don’t be afraid.

Today’s prayer: Lord, You see me exactly where I am, and You know what I’m struggling with. Right now, I choose to trust You 100 percent. Please open my eyes and my heart to see and understand the depth of Your love and faithfulness. In the name of Jesus, amen.

May your Sunday be blessed!
