What I Sense God Is Saying About Relationships This Christmas

This Christmas, I believe God is preparing and equipping those who want to have the marriage He intends for them.

Many people have gone through a long season of testing, where they have faced struggles and trials, and if that’s you, child of God, take heart. All the things you’ve been through over the last several months will produce a harvest for you, like the apostle Paul wrote about:

And don’t allow yourselves to be weary in planting good seeds, for the season of reaping the wonderful harvest you’ve planted is coming! (Gal. 6:9 TPT)

The difficulties are worth something. They will make you stronger in the Lord, and you will see the fruit of your perseverance.

In fact, if you look for it and keep your heart open, you will see more and more why a covenantal marriage is so important to God the Father and what it can do for our society.

Keep Pressing In

As I prayed about this Christmas and what the Holy Spirit is saying, I heard the words press in and persevere for couples. If you’re married or dating, you and your significant other have probably encountered some difficulties, questions, concerns, and other things the two of you are wondering about.

Don’t give up, even when the questions seem overwhelming. Press in and keep going, even if it’s hard. The Bible says the race can be difficult, but those who finish it well will receive the prize. If you keep going and don’t give in to fear, pride, discouragement, or despair, a prize is certainly waiting for you.

If your faith remains strong, even while surrounded by life’s difficulties, you will continue to experience the untold blessings of God! True happiness comes as you pass the test with faith, and receive the victorious crown of life promised to every lover of God! (Jas. 1:12 TPT)

Greater Things Are Coming

I also sense that as you seek the Lord and are filled more with His Spirit, you will be called to do greater things for His kingdom. These are things you don’t know about right now.

You may have felt a little hopeless lately, but you can take hold of your hope again. Greater things are coming—things you can’t imagine. Spend time with God, and let Him tell you about these greater things. Seek His face and listen to His Spirit.

A Season of Deeper Intimacy

But Mary treasured up all these things and pondered them in her heart. (Luke 2:19 NIV)

This coming year is a season of growing closer to the Lord and each other more than ever.

What would it look like for you to devote more time to prayer and just being with Jesus? Pray by yourself, but also pray with your significant other. Let your joint relationship with the Lord grow. Listen to the Holy Spirit more, and treasure in your heart what He says.

As It Is in Heaven

From the beginning, marriage has been the foundation of God’s will in creation. He told the first man and woman to rule the earth and multiply—to rule with Him and multiply in the intimacy already given to them through His Spirit.

I believe God has been shaking things—or allowing the shaking—so all of us will understand a little more what His Son did on the cross. How He defeated darkness. How we belong to Him now, more than we realize. How He is stronger than anything evil or wicked or bad that could possibly happen on the earth.

Jesus taught His disciples to pray, “May Your kingdom come. May Your will be done on earth as it is in heaven.” That’s what we want always—for His kingdom and His will to be done.

I pray this coming year will be a time when you get to see your relationship the way God sees it, for this is a beautiful thing. Don’t be afraid to pray and believe for more of His kingdom to come on the earth—as it is in heaven.

Does your heart need to remember who God is?
