Declaring the Truth of God

Part of our covenant with the Lord is that we have no wants. He takes care of us completely. Here is just one verse, out of many, that talks about this:
O [reverently] fear the Lord, you His saints (believers, holy ones);
For to those who fear Him there is no want. (Ps. 34:9 AMP)
You are a beloved part of God’s family. As the Father of that family, He faithfully and wonderfully takes care of you…and you have no wants.
Why, then, do so many of us have wants anyway?
If we have physical needs, does that mean we can’t fully trust what the Bible says?
No. And here’s why.
Things That Are
One important aspect of our relationship with God is that He “calls into being things that were not” (Rom. 4:17 NIV). Abraham was quite familiar with this principle. God called him the father of many nations when Abraham didn’t have a child. During the long wait, Abraham remembered what God had said, and his faith grew stronger and stronger (Rom. 4:20–21).
When we have wants, this isn’t a sign our covenant with God has holes in it. Instead, it is an invitation to know God more and grow stronger in our faith, like Abraham did, remembering how God calls into being things that “are not.”
The Creational Covenant
The very first covenant mentioned in Scripture, the creational covenant, appears in Genesis 1:28. God told Adam and Eve to go out and subdue the earth. When the world around us doesn’t look like Heaven, that’s what we need to do—we need to go “subdue” it and tell it to align with His will.
Your kingdom come,
your will be done,
on earth as it is in heaven. (Matt. 6:10 NIV)
If there is anything in our life that doesn’t look like what God said, we speak His truth in that area, and keep doing it, until our circumstances change and begin to reflect His covenant—until the thing that “is not” becomes the thing that is.
Declaring Your Covenant with God
God’s Word clearly says we will have no wants. So, if we do have a want, we declare His covenant:
“The Bible says I have no wants. Therefore, I am going to see God’s goodness in this area. He is working to meet this need for me. This lack will turn into benefit and abundance for me, according to His will.”
Your covenant with God is real. You can believe it—you can believe Him. Declare His truth in your life, especially when it doesn’t seem true, and then expect Him to move.
