Do You Know You Are Marvelous?

When God made you, He did a “marvelous” thing (Ps. 139:14).

You are “very good” (Gen. 1:31).

He made you with His own hands (Isa. 64:8).

The Bible repeatedly talks about your worth in God’s sight. If you cannot see your worth, if you just can’t believe it or can’t feel it, this is not a sign you have no worth. It is a sign you need healing.

All of us need healing. We were hurt in the past, and those wounds—along with the painful things they are still telling us—need to be healed.

During the month of June, we’re talking about a culture of honor, and one important part of honor is something unexpected: learning to love ourselves.

Our heavenly Father is absolutely delighted with us, and we honor Him when we choose to love what He created.

As a believer in Jesus, you are a clean one, made holy by Jesus. It is time for you to really believe this and start to see yourself the way He sees you (Acts 10:15).

But how? How can we find healing when there’s so much pain?

When we are in a low place emotionally, the Bible says we need to “remember” the Lord:

My soul is downcast within me;
therefore I will remember you. (Ps. 42:6 NIV)

“Father, I am discouraged, frustrated, and overwhelmed. I feel like there is nothing good in my future. Therefore I will remember You.”

What does it mean to “remember” the Lord?

We can remember what He is like. He’s a warrior. He is gentle with mothers and children. He trains our hands for battle. He makes us who we are. He doesn’t destroy hurting people. He is the God of abundant life and extraordinary blessings. (See Ex. 15:3; Isa. 40:11; Ps. 144:1; Ps. 100:3; Isa. 42:3; John 10:10; Eph. 3:20.)

We can remember how He helped us in the past. What good things has God already done for you? Where did you see answers to prayer? How did He rescue you? When did He save you? Remember those things! Hold them close to your heart.

We can remember what the Lord has told us. Every believer in Jesus can hear God’s voice (John 10:4). Here are some common ways people hear Him: through His Word (a verse “stands out”), through His quiet internal voice (this often sounds like a thought), through a sense/knowing, through a prophetic word, etc.

What has God told you about your future? What promises has He made you? What has He said about your life and what He wants to do on the earth? Remember these things, and allow your heart to begin to sense His delight in you.

Beloved child of God, He knew what He was doing when He made you.

He made you on purpose.

He is so very happy you exist.
