How Do You Want to THINK This Week?

The Bible talks about taking our thoughts captive. This is an action statement. We don’t have to sit here and fill ourselves up with whatever thoughts come our way.

Instead, we have a glorious choice. We get to choose what we will think—what we will allow in our heads and what we will not.

“I’m not going to think that way. THIS is how I’m going to think. My thoughts are going to line up with the kingdom of God. I am going to think according to His love for me.”

How do you want to think this week?

Here are a few “kingdom thought” ideas based on Scripture and the truth of who God made you to be.

1. Think About How You Belong to God

For you have not received a spirit of slavery leading to fear again, but you have received a spirit of adoption as sons and daughters by which we cry out, “Abba! Father!” The Spirit Himself testifies with our spirit that we are children of God. (Rom. 8:15–16 NASB)

Based on Romans 8:15–16, who are you really?

  • You are fearless.

  • You are an accepted child, someone dearly wanted, and not an inconvenience.

  • You are filled up with the adoption of God. That’s what you have inside you, and when your heart speaks, adoption comes out. “Abba! You are my Father!”

  • The Holy Spirit—the One who searches the deep places of God—is rooting for you.

What does Romans 8:15–16 mean to your heart? Journal about this passage, and write down anything you sense the Lord tells you.

2. Think About Being Fearless Because He’s Your Father

God didn’t give us a cowardly spirit but a spirit of power, love, and good judgment. (2 Tim. 1:7 NOG)

Based on 2 Timothy 1:7, who are you really—at your core?

  • You are utterly fearless.

  • You don’t have to think according to fear ever again.

  • You don’t have to cower when powerful forces come against you.

  • You are powerful.

  • You carry a spirit of love toward the world, just like God does.

  • When you rely on the Holy Spirit, you have good judgment. He helps you discern what is actually happening behind the scenes and what you can do about it.

  • You are well equipped for life, not overcome by life.

What does 2 Timothy 1:7 mean to your heart? How are you going to live? Journal about this verse, and write down anything you sense the Lord tells you.

3. Think About the Power of His Love

All through the day Yahweh has commanded his endless love to pour over me.
Through the night I sing his songs
and my praises to the living God. (Ps. 42:8 TPT)

The Lord will send His goodness in the daytime;

And His song will be with me in the night,

A prayer to the God of my life. (NASB)

Based on Psalm 42:8, who are you really?

  • You are loved.

  • You are loved.

  • You are loved.

  • He is sending His love to you.

  • His love blankets your days.

  • The truth of who He is will comfort you in night seasons.

What does Psalm 42:8 mean to your heart? What does God whisper to you as you meditate on this verse? Journal about these things, and write down anything you sense the Lord tells you.
