He Loves You More Than You Think!

Do you feel unworthy of God’s love?

Is your heart convinced that He wants other people in His presence more than He wants you there?

“I can’t be close to God. I’ve made too many mistakes.”

“I am not good enough for Him. Just look at my past.”

“I have PROBLEMS. Like, a lot of problems.”

“I can’t measure up to what He wants from me.”

“I always fail.”

When we push God’s love away, thinking we don’t deserve it or aren’t good enough to qualify for it, we are basically saying, “I expect God to punish me.” We might not use those exact words, but that’s how we are responding to His invitation to draw near Him.

He is saying, “I am your Father and I love you. Let Me hold you and show you My love.”

But we are saying, “I am not good enough for You. I am going to be punished because I have failed You repeatedly.”

What does the Bible say?

There is no punishment in God’s love. The Bible is very clear about this:

Love never brings fear, for fear is always related to punishment. But love’s perfection drives the fear of punishment far from our hearts. Whoever walks constantly afraid of punishment has not reached love’s perfection. (1 John 4:18 TPT)

THAT is what God is like, and He is astounding. There is no fear in His love. That means you never need to be afraid of losing His love, and you can run to Him without the fear of punishment.

  • He is not going to hurt you because you made a mistake or a bad decision.

  • You won’t be punished for not being perfect.

  • Fear is not a part of God’s love, so if a thought or feeling is based in fear, it is lying to you in some way.

  • God Himself thinks you are good enough for Him. What Jesus did on the cross means you will always be welcomed into His love.

Precious child of God, if you are carrying around the heavy weight of self-hatred or the fear of being punished, you can let that weight go.

You can relax with God.

Here are some truths about you and the love of God:

  • You don’t need to be afraid with Him because there is no fear in His love.

  • You get to run to Him when you’re in trouble (Heb. 4:16).

  • You get to relax with Him and fully, completely let go of the fear that His love will hurt you or betray you.

  • You can snuggle down in His love and not worry about anything.

  • The world might be shouting at you and trying to get your attention, but you can let all the chaos go, because you are safe and sound in His love.

  • You are tucked in, wrapped up, and surrounded by His love.

You get to know His love for yourself!

Do you want to know your heavenly Father’s love at a deeper level? Here is a simple prayer you can pray this week:

Father, thank You for Your beautiful love for me. Would You help me understand the truth about Your love? Teach my heart to respond to You, and please show me how to look at myself through the eyes of Your love. Anywhere I am fearing punishment, would You show me Your delight in me instead? In the name of Jesus I pray. Amen.
