Brought Together By God

I love hearing stories of how couples met and realized they were meant to be with each other forever. I love when they tell me that it was God who brought them together.. In a world of so many relationship choices, I have found that when couples consulted God and waited for Him to give them the go ahead, the result was a blessed marriage. It’s not that difficult to spot a couple that has a great relationship, especially if they are both doing what they love the most. Recently, I met Bram and Sarah. A beautiful couple that has been married for fifty years. Their love for God, each other, and the people around them is so evident. As I asked them to share their love story, Sarah told me that prayer was what brought Bram to her. She told me how two years prior to meeting her husband, God put a desire in her heart to pray for the salvation of the man that she was going to marry. She prayed fervently and two years later met Bram. She soon discovered that Bram had accepted Jesus in his heart two years earlier. She knew immediately that this was the man she had been praying for. Add to that, Bram was interested in becoming a missionary. That did it for both of them. Many years later, you can see the joy they have as they are still working as missionaries. Prayer to me is the most important aspect of Christian living. When we pray, we talk to the Lord and discover His heart for us. That is why it is so important to pray ahead of time for your spouse to be. I remember the first time I learned that my mother was praying for my future husband. It filled me with a sense of purpose and hope concerning the man that I would wed. She shared her prayer journal with me some years after I got married. It was exciting to see how she wrote so many prayers concerning my relationship with Leon. She asked the Lord to confirm his will for us. I also prayed fervently for Leon even before I met him. I do the same for my three children. I have prayed for them even before they were born. I have been praying for godly spouses for each of them, and I have also been praying that they will be so close to God that they will become the greatest gift to their future spouses. Our Heavenly Father has also given me the desire to encourage many single men and women in this area of their lives. If you are single and have met me, be sure I am praying for you and your future spouse. Philippians 4:6-7 says, Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.”
