Becoming Who God Created You to Be

Greetings from Becoming the One!
Dear Becoming the One family,
If you’re single and hoping to meet the right person, I have good news!
This month at Becoming the One, we’re talking about compatibility and the culture of hospitality—that is, being open to other people, even when they’re different than you expected.
I’m so excited to discuss this topic because it’s a common worry point:
“Am I compatible with this person? Do we have to agree on EVERYTHING, or is it okay to have differences? If there’s conflict, does this mean our relationship is doomed?”
Finding a mate doesn’t look like going out and hunting somebody down. Nor does it look like trying to be somebody you’re not—or pretending you’re okay with somebody’s character flaw.
Instead, here is all you need to do to meet your spouse:
1. Focus on becoming who God wants you to be.
2. Put yourself in the right social circles, and trust God has a good plan for you.
That’s it. Many of us try to make issues of compatibility so much harder than they need to be, but the weight of finding the right person and getting married doesn’t rest on our shoulders—it rests on God’s. He is writing the plot of our love story, and we are following His leading.
When we’re focused on Him and becoming the amazing person He created us to be, we can step onto the path He puts in front of us, and the right person is bound to walk up and join us.
Finding the right person might seem like an impossibility, but this is a matter of trust.
Lean into the Lord and trust that He will guide you to the love of your life. He has wonderful plans for your future, and you can trust Him with all your heart, especially in this area of finding the right person.
If God led Leon and me to find one another—which took navigating two different languages, cultures, and countries—He can certainly lead you!
I can’t wait to hear what He does for you! How is God leading YOU in the area of romance? What has He put on your heart? Please tell me all the stories. I just love hearing about His faithfulness.
In His love,
Leon and Salomé for the Becoming the One Team
