Trusting God in the Wait

Greetings from Becoming the One!
Dear Becoming the One family,
One of the hardest things God asks us to do is wait. He says, “I have something amazing for you. I promise I will do it for you, but you will need to trust Me during the wait.”
Many of you reading this are waiting for God to bring your spouse. “Lord, I want to get married. But where is my husband/wife? Why hasn’t this happened for me yet?”
When we look at our singleness through the lens of our own understanding, the fears can start to pile up: “Is something wrong with me? What if God doesn’t want me to get married? What if I’m going to be single forever?”
Beloved child of God, you don’t need any of those fears!
Personally, I believe that if someone has the desire to marry, it is because God gave them that desire. That is how important you and your heart are to the Lord! He doesn’t give desires He doesn’t intend to fulfill. Your loving heavenly Father longs to lead you into the beautiful marriage relationship He has for you.
Getting there, however, will take patience and the willingness to wait for Him.
This month at Becoming the One, we’re talking about a culture of wisdom. With dating and marriage, godly wisdom is required—the kind of wisdom that comes from the Holy Spirit, not from the world. The kind of wisdom that is willing to wait for God and trust Him completely. In this place of trust, waiting becomes a beautiful form of worship.
I believe in fairy-tale romances! I know they exist because I have one. You can have one too. But it will take what mine took: God’s wisdom and the courage to wait for His best.
Singleness may feel unending, but it won’t last forever. I encourage you to let go of fear and worry and just enjoy this stage of your life, because one day everything will look different for you.
Join us this month as we discuss God’s wisdom in dating—it could change your life!
In His love,
Leon and Salomé for the Becoming the One Team
