3 Ways to Bless Your Relationship Following the Pandemic

Is your relationship feeling the strain of everything happening in the world right now? You may not be consciously aware of the pressure, but you might be able to feel it.

Do you feel anxious all the time and don’t know how to make it stop?

Are your stress levels higher than usual?

Do you frequently worry about your relationship? Is there a lack of peace?

To one degree or another, you could be feeling the weight of the world’s heartache, fear, and trauma.

This is a difficult season for many people, but you can stand up and speak blessing into your relationship instead of despair.

You don’t need to cower and hide when times are hard. You are a child of God, and He makes you powerful. That’s who you are right now—powerful, because of Him. You get to stand boldly in His light, which is always stronger than the darkness (John 1:5).

Speaking life over your relationship is one way you can reject the enemy’s plans and invite more of Jesus' light.

Voicing Out Loud the Life of God

Take the following three blessings and make them your own. Feel free to tweak or change up the wording as necessary, so each blessing fits your situation and heart.

Blessing 1: The Favor of the Lord

He who finds a wife finds a good thing
and obtains favor from the Lord. (Pr. 18:22 ESV)

“Lord, thank You for ____________ (person’s name). He/she is a good thing for me, like Your Word says. Thank You for the favor You have shown me by bringing this person into my life. I bless ____________. I acknowledge that he/she is a huge benefit to me and that I will continue to see his/her benefits ongoing into the future, because that is what You are like. You give blessings that continue, not blessings that stop or fall short. ____________ is a sign of Your favor toward me. In this season of chaos and upheaval all around the world, please guard my ability to see You clearly and to see ____________ clearly. May the enemy be unable to hinder my heart toward him/her, but may I always have the courage to believe and accept the blessing You assigned to me when I said ‘yes’ to this person.”

Blessing 2: The Fruit of the Spirit

The fruit produced by the Holy Spirit within you is divine love in all its varied expressions: joy that overflows, peace that subdues, patience that endures, kindness in action, a life full of virtue, faith that prevails, gentleness of heart, and strength of spirit. Never set the law above these qualities, for they are meant to be limitless. (Gal. 5:22–23 TPT)

“Father, thank You that You are with me. I think You are beautiful, and You have brought me a partner who looks like You. I can see the similarities. ____________ (person’s name) reveals Your nature to me in many different ways. I bless him/her with overflowing, incredible joy. I bless him/her with godly patience that rejoices in small victories as well as big victories. I bless him/her with powerful faith that never wavers, and I bless him/her with the self-control of Jesus, which listens to You in faithfulness and boldly goes after what it wants.”

Blessing 3: The Love of Jesus

You husbands, show the same kind of love to your wives as Christ showed to the Church when he died for her. (Eph. 5:25 TLB)

In the same way the church is devoted to Christ, let the wives be devoted to their husbands in everything. (Eph. 5:24 TPT)

Above all, love each other warmly, because love covers many sins. (1 Pet. 4:8 GW)

“Father God, thank You for giving me a picture of how Jesus loves me. I know ____________ (person’s name) is not perfect, but he/she has chosen You, and this choice lets You put Yourself on display clearly inside him/her. When he/she is kind to me, it is You being kind to me. When he/she is gentle with me, it is You being gentle with me. May I love ____________ in a noble manner, according to Your heart. May I be confident in my love for him/her, not timid or fearful or prone to anxiety. May my love reveal the love of God to his/her heart just as his/her love reveals Your love to me. I bless ____________ to know the love of God more purely, more clearly, and more powerfully. I bless him/her to know the warmth of Your love in every way. Please guard his/her heart in this season so it remains soft and gentle toward You.”
