3 Prayers for Your Relationship This Christmas

How do you want God to bless your relationship?

If you could ask the Lord for anything, what would you ask Him for?

Is there something special on your heart?

This Christmas season, carry the desires of your heart before the Lord. Don’t just hold on to them, but take them to Him and set them in His hands. “Father, this is what I am asking You for.”

Here are a few simple prayers you can pray over your significant other: for their spirit to rejoice, for them to look to God for help, and for their protection. The Lord treasures your prayers for your partner, and He is delighted every time you speak the person’s name in His presence.

What if you’re single right now? Can you still use these blessings?

Yes! God is greater than time and physical space, and the prayers you pray can be greater than those things as well, because He is the One who works through them. He knows the man or woman you will end up with, and you can pray over that person right now, even if you aren’t with them yet.

Declare Out Loud the Life of God

Take the following three blessings and make them your own. Feel free to tweak or change up the wording as necessary, so each blessing fits your situation and heart.

Blessing 1: Rejoice in the Lord

My soul exalts the Lord,
And my spirit has rejoiced in God my Savior. (Luke 1:46–47 NASB)

“Lord, thank You for bringing ____________ (person’s name) into my life. May his/her soul always exalt You—at his/her job, in his/her quiet times with You, when he/she is watching TV, while he/she is with family. May ____________ know the incredible joy that comes with exalting You, and may his/her spirit constantly choose You as his/her Savior. May his/her spirit know the Lord at a level that is deeper than human comprehension. During this Christmas season, I ask that he/she would be able to see You in a special way and truly rejoice.”

Blessing 2: Eyes Upon the Lord

O our God, will you not execute judgment on them? For we are powerless against this great horde that is coming against us. We do not know what to do, but our eyes are on you. (2 Chron. 20:12 ESV)

Those who look to him for help will be radiant with joy;
no shadow of shame will darken their faces. (Ps. 34:5 NLT)

“Father, thank You that You are stronger than anything ____________ (person’s name) might be afraid of today. In every area where he/she is overwhelmed, confused, or doesn’t know how to move forward, I ask that he/she would be able to look to You, because all those who look to You are radiant with joy. No shadow of shame covers their faces. That is what I want for ____________. May his/her heart be able to look to You for help in every single situation.”

Blessing 3: The Protection of the Lord

If anyone should attack you and try to kill you, the Lord your God will keep you safe, as someone guards a precious treasure. As for your enemies, however, he will throw them away, as someone hurls stones with a sling. (1 Sam. 25:29 GNT)

“Father God, thank You for ____________ (person’s name). Thank You for being with him/her and for keeping him/her safe. Thank You for guarding him/her because he/she is Your precious treasure. That is how You feel about ____________, and that is how You treat him/her. I ask, Father, that he/she would become more and more aware of Your protection and sacred presence. Please remove his/her enemies far away from him/her, and may he/she prosper in everything he/she does.”
