Where Do You Need to Practice Believing God in Your Dating Life?

Where do you have trouble trusting the Lord in your dating life?

Where do you struggle to believe Him?

There is a beautiful place in our relationship with Him where we don’t just know His truth, but we actually come to believe it:

We have come to know and have believed the love which God has for us. God is love, and the one who remains in love remains in God, and God remains in him. (1 John 4:16 NASB)

Chances are, there are some areas in your dating life where you struggle to believe Him. Or perhaps you believe Him a little in that area, but it would be good for you to believe Him a lot.

Where do you need to believe the Lord this week? Where do you need to let go of the past or what the world has taught you, and just choose to trust Him?

This week, consider the following declarations. Are any of these verses difficult for you to believe where your dating life is concerned? Practice believing the Lord in these specific areas.

“The Lord’s compassion toward me is unlimited.”

The reason I can still find hope is that I keep this one thing in mind:
the Lord’s mercy.
We were not completely wiped out.
His compassion is never limited. (Lam. 3:21–22 NOG)

Do you believe this?

Do you believe that no matter what happens, you will come face to face with the mercy of God? That you will not be wiped out? That His compassion will always be with you? How does this understanding affect your dating life?

“The Lord is reliable in my life in ways no one has ever been reliable for me.”

O Lord, you are my God.
I will highly honor you; I will praise your name.
You have done miraculous things.
You have been completely reliable
in carrying out your plans from long ago. (Isa. 25:1 GW)

Do you believe this?

Do you believe that God is “completely reliable” for you, personally? Do you believe He will do miraculous things for you, just as He did for His people in the Old Testament? What might Isaiah 25:1 mean for your dating life?

“The Lord will forgive me every time I repent, and He will purify me from the things I now regret.”

But if we confess our sins to God, he will keep his promise and do what is right: he will forgive us our sins and purify us from all our wrongdoing. (1 John 1:9 GNT)

Do you believe this?

Do you believe that when you confess your sins to the Lord, He will absolutely, faithfully, completely forgive you every time and wash you clean? Do you believe you truly are clean? That the mistakes you made in the past are now gone? Do you understand how special you are to the Lord, even though you are not perfect?

“The Lord hears my prayers, and I can expect Him to answer them with all His faithfulness.”

Ask and keep on asking and it will be given to you; seek and keep on seeking and you will find; knock and keep on knocking and the door will be opened to you. (Matt. 7:7 AMP)

Do you believe this?

Do you believe that you can be persistent with God? That you can keep making the same request, and He will delight in it the fiftieth time just as much as He did the first time you asked? Do you expect Him to listen to you and answer you? What might this mean for your dating life?

Child of God, you are so precious to Him! He knows your heart and all your desires for marriage, and you can trust Him with these things. Practice believing Him this week—dare to trust Him with all your heart.
