Choose to See His Light!

When we look at our past, the story of our life, most of us don’t see what God sees. We focus on our mistakes, what we’re embarrassed about, the things we got wrong, and how we failed.
“I can’t believe I did that.”
“I feel like such an idiot now.”
“I should have been smarter than that.”
We tend to see the darkness more than the light.
But, beloved child of God, you would be so surprised if you heard Him talking about you. There is such mercy in His eyes when He looks at you. When He talks about you, His voice is tender and full of delight.
“Do you see this little one? She is learning My heart for her. She’s doing such a good job.”
“Do you see this amazing son of Mine? He is daring to think bigger—to step outside his comfort zone and come play with Me in the realm of the miraculous.”
You are so beautiful to your heavenly Father. You are flawless to Him (Song 4:7).
All His compassion is for you (Hos. 11:8).
All His love is for you—forever (Rom. 8:38–39).
He takes great joy in you (Ps. 149:4).
He enjoys you so much (Ps. 147:11).
Life in this world “trains” us to see darkness more than light. So when we look at our lives, we often see a story that includes shame and failure—but God sees His light. He sees the story differently than we do, and we honor Him when we choose to see our story the way He does: through the lens of His wonderful light.
This month at Becoming the One, we’ve been talking about a culture of honor. We honor the Lord when we choose to see our story according to His light. This is worship.
What is God saying about YOUR story?
Where do you see only shame, embarrassment, or pain, but God tells the story a different way?
Is God gently asking you to let go of how you tell your story and start telling it His way instead?
Do you need to start agreeing with His light and say “no” to the darkness?
Don’t be afraid to honor God this way—by believing the story He is telling about you. The way He tells your story is the true version. There is no better version than the one He is telling.
