Declaring God’s Compassion over Your Life

Many of us understand God’s tender compassion for us from a distance. We know He’s compassionate because the Bible says so…but our heart doesn’t really understand it, especially in those places where we have experienced pain.

The compassion of God is healing, and as our heart catches a glimpse of who He really is, His compassion rushes over our walls and down into the hurting places. We are healed where we didn’t expect to be healed—sometimes where we didn’t even realize we were broken. That is what His compassion is like.

Not Even a Shadow of Condemnation

Even though we know the Bible says God will not ever condemn us (Rom. 8:1), many of us still expect condemnation because He is holy and we make mistakes.

But this is what God says:

How can I give you up, Ephraim?
How can I surrender you, Israel?
How can I make you like Admah?
How can I treat you like Zeboiim?
My heart is turned over within Me,
All My compassions are kindled. (Hos. 11:8 NASB)

This month at Becoming the One, we’re talking about gratitude, compassion, and emotional healing. God’s compassion searches out the broken pieces inside of us. He does not condemn—He restores.

May the broken pieces inside of you encounter His compassion very quickly. ❤️

Declaring His Compassion

If you have trouble “seeing” the compassion of God for you, here are a few Bible-based declarations about His heart:

  • He is the God of compassion for me (Ps. 86:15).

  • He is “abundant” with love for me (Ps. 86:15).

  • He will always, every time, be faithful toward me (Ps. 86:15).

  • He shows compassion, not frustration, when I’m struggling (Isa. 49:13).

  • Because of His compassion, I am healed (Matt. 14:14).

  • His love for me will never stop (Lam. 3:22).

  • His faithfulness in my life is more powerful than I expect (Lam. 3:23).

  • His mercy will never dry up in my life. It starts all over again every morning (Lam. 3:22–23).

  • He loves and heals the broken places in my heart (Ps. 147:3).

  • He loves being kind to me (Mic. 6:8).

  • His love for me is stronger than the earth (Isa. 54:10).

  • He has good things in store for me, not condemnation (Jer. 29:11).

Beloved child of God, if you aren’t sure what the Lord thinks about you, if you feel like you have a gaping hole in your heart where His compassion is concerned, go over that list every day this week. Look up the Scriptures and read them out loud over yourself. Ask the Holy Spirit to speak to you, and write down what you think He says.

Now is the day of healing! Don’t be afraid to take your heavenly Father’s hand, hold on to Him tightly, and let Him lead you out of the painful darkness and into His light.
