God Has a Wonderful Love Story for You!
We LOVE love stories here at Becoming the One! It’s so exciting to watch as God brings two people together in a beautiful, unique way. Love stories are like fingerprints. Each of them is different, and each reveals God’s glory, highlighting His creativity and the special care He put into that specific relationship.
God is no respecter of persons (Acts 10:34). That means if He did it for somebody else, He can do it for you. If He has put marriage on your heart, you can expect Him to be faithful to that God-breathed desire. One day you will look back and see the unique love story He gave you.
In the meantime, there’s just one little issue…
Waiting for God to bring the right person!
This month at Becoming the One, we’re talking about a culture of patience. Patience is a core part of who we are because of Jesus. It is a fruit of the Spirit—the same Spirit who raised Jesus from the dead and lives inside us because we’re God’s children. The Holy Spirit’s nature deeply influences who we are.
The spiritual nature produces love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. (Gal. 5:22–23 GW)
As we come to understand God’s heart for us, when we recognize His favor toward us, how kind He is, that He always fulfills His word, that He’s faithful and absolutely loves us—being patient becomes easier.
To be patient on this marriage journey, we have to know God’s heart.
This helps us rest as He works behind the scenes. Matthew 11:28–30 is about dating and marriage as much as it is about anything else:
Come to me, all of you who are tired and have heavy loads. I will give you rest. Accept my work and learn from me. I am gentle and humble in spirit. And you will find rest for your souls. The work that I ask you to accept is easy. The load I give you to carry is not heavy. (ICB)
You get to be at rest as you wait on God to bring your spouse! The lack of weariness is one way you can know you’re resting with Him—the wait doesn’t feel heavy, like it’s draining your strength. Instead, it feels full of hope and anticipation.
God has a wonderful, incredibly unique love story just for you!
If you’re in the waiting period right now, don’t listen to discouragement or the lies of fear—because God is working, and you WILL see His goodness!
