God Is Faithfully Guiding You
Many believers in Jesus spend a lot of time worrying about making the right decision.
“Is this good? How can I tell?”
“What if this is wrong?”
“Dating this person is a risk. Will our relationship go well, or will I get hurt?”
All of us sometimes need to be reassured that God, true to His Word, is guiding us. Our heart needs to know we are not alone, but He is here and He is helping.
The Bible repeatedly speaks of God guiding His people:
The Lord alone guided him,
no foreign god was with him. (Deut. 32:12 ESV)
The Lord says, “I will guide you along the best pathway for your life.
I will advise you and watch over you.” (Ps. 32:8 NLT)
He goes on ahead of them, and his sheep follow him because they know his voice. (John 10:4 NIV)
Beloved child of God, if your heart is for the Lord, if you want His leading in your life, you can be sure you have it. That doesn’t mean you have all the answers or won’t ever mess up, but what the Bible says is perfectly true for you. God is guiding you.
Because God is guiding you, here are four things you can know with certainty.
1. You don’t have to worry about making the wrong decision.
Your ears shall hear a word behind you, saying, “This is the way, walk in it,” when you turn to the right or when you turn to the left. (Isa. 30:21 ESV)
The fear of making a bad decision can be strong enough to stop us in our tracks. But we don’t need to pick up this fear. God is guiding us, which means we are going to make good decisions. Even when we don’t know what’s happening, He has a plan and knows how to cause the situation to work out in our favor (Rom. 8:28).
2. He is supporting you.
So don’t worry, because I am with you.
Don’t be afraid, because I am your God.
I will make you strong and will help you.
I will support you with my right hand that saves you. (Isa. 41:10 ICB)
The Lord has you by the hand. There may be a lot of things you don’t know right now, but that is okay. You can trust His grip on you.
3. His peace surrounds you.
I don’t concern myself with matters too great
or too awesome for me to grasp.
Instead, I have calmed and quieted myself,
like a weaned child who no longer cries for its mother’s milk. (Ps. 131:1–2 NLT)
God is guiding you, which means you get to let go of all fear and, instead, experience His peace in your body, in your mind, in your emotions, and in your heart. You don’t need to worry about anything that is “too big” for you, but you get to sit on the Lord’s lap in peace.
4. You will never be ashamed for trusting the Lord.
They cried out to you and were saved.
They trusted in you and were never disgraced. (Ps. 22:5 NLT)
You are experiencing the faithfulness of God right now. He has a plan, and it is a good one. You will never be ashamed for putting your trust in Him.
