One Surprising Part of Dating Wisely

When people are anxious about being single, much of the time it’s because they are wondering if God is really going to be faithful this time—with them. They know He’s been faithful with others, but does He care about their marriage story too?

“Will He do what He promised?”

“Is my future marriage important to Him? Or is it just important to me?”

“Will He step in and help me? What if He doesn’t?”

One huge—and often unexpected—part of dating wisely is believing God is exactly what the Bible says: absolutely, completely faithful. You don’t need to ask any fearful questions, because He is faithful.

  • Will He be trustworthy with your love story? Yes.

  • Will He do for you what He promised? Will He fulfill His word? Yes.

  • Is it okay to relax in His love for you, being fully convinced that He will act on your behalf and arrange for you to meet the right person? Yes.

So many people are eaten up with fear because they aren’t sure if God will take care of their heart and be faithful to them. But the Bible says He is “entirely faithful” (Ps. 89:8 NLT). They will experience His astounding faithfulness if they wait for Him and keep their hearts open to Him.

Steady, Tender Faithfulness

There will never be a situation where God is not faithful.

Bill Johnson says that if a situation isn’t good, that means it’s not over yet. What an amazing way to think about the faithfulness of God concerning your future!

Your unfailing love will last forever.
Your faithfulness is as enduring as the heavens. (Ps. 89:2 NLT)

If you feel anxious about dating or marriage, here are four declarations based on Psalm 89:2 and what it says about the Lord’s faithfulness:

  • “God’s faithfulness will not fail me in any way.”

  • “I am surrounded by His faithfulness as I wait to meet the right person. There is no risk here. God will do what He said.”

  • “His faithfulness will last forever in my life. It will also last forever in the life of my future spouse and in everything I am concerned about.”

  • “God’s faithfulness is more than enough for my life. I am going to see the goodness of the Lord.”

Believing God will be faithful to you is a key part of dating wisely.

Be at peace, child of God. You are so very precious to your heavenly Father—more than you know—and you are wrapped in His perfect faithfulness. His faithfulness is the pen writing your story.
