His Beautiful Patience When Your Heart Needs Healing

All of us go through times when we suddenly feel exposed. Our faults—real or imagined—become visible to us or others, and we have a choice to make.

Will we react in shame and try to hide?

Or will we run to Jesus so He can heal the place that hurts?

How we respond in those moments is important. Whenever we choose to hide, it’s because we don’t realize how much our heavenly Father really loves us. He is so welcoming to His hurting children. We often expect to be rejected…but God is patient with us. It is time to believe His patience.

The patience of God is more powerful than we think!

It is like an ocean—deep and purposeful and always active. He doesn’t get angry the way humans do. Instead, He is soft and tender toward everything He has made, including us (Ps. 145:9).

We can always run to Him when we need help! He responds with deep, abiding patience as He heals us.

This month at Becoming the One, we’re talking about a culture of patience. Your loving heavenly Father is the epitome of patience.

Here are four things that are always true about God whenever you need healing:

When you are at your lowest, God still responds with compassion. He is slow to get angry:

The Lord is merciful and compassionate,
slow to get angry and filled with unfailing love. (Ps. 145:8 NLT)

Even when you have completely messed up, God leads you with kindness:

Or perhaps you despise his great kindness, tolerance, and patience. Surely you know that God is kind, because he is trying to lead you to repent. (Rom. 2:4 GNT)

Even when you’ve done something dumb, He does not condemn you:

There is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus. (Rom. 8:1 NIV)

He heals all who come to Him. It doesn’t matter whether or not they “deserve” that healing:

Large crowds came and brought many people who were paralyzed or blind or lame or unable to talk. They placed them, and many others, in front of Jesus, and he healed them all. (Matt. 15:30 CEV)

That is what the Lord’s heart for you looks like!

When you see your own flaws—take courage, because God hasn't rejected you.

If you could see His face as He looks at you, you would know you have nothing to be afraid of. ❤️

God is patient with you—more than you expect. Every time you feel exposed, vulnerable, ashamed, or like a failure, you can rest in His patience for you. He loves you so much, and He is so very willing to help you.

In every situation in life, He knows what you need, and He will lead you into healing with His kindness.
