4 Things to Remember If You Are Weary

If you feel worn down, overloaded, or overwhelmed, here are four simple truths to remember.

1. You are not alone.

As a father has compassion on his children,
so the Lord has compassion on those who fear him. (Ps. 103:13 NIV)

The Lord sees your weariness, and He is not saying, “I need you to get it together. You have to do better.” Instead, His heart is moved, and He wants to help you. Whatever the problem is—this thing that is pushing you toward exhaustion—you don’t have to fix it by yourself. He is with you, and He is taking care of you. All His compassion is for you.

2. You have a special purpose. You’re here for a reason.

For we are God’s masterpiece. He has created us anew in Christ Jesus, so we can do the good things he planned for us long ago. (Eph. 2:10 NLT)

When you feel exhausted, it can be good to remember that the Lord has good things for you to do. They are not obligations to wear you down even more, but they will make you feel alive because He is doing them with you (Matt. 11:28–29). He is refreshment. You are His masterpiece, you have a purpose, and that purpose is important.

3. You don’t have to figure everything out yourself. God wants you to cling to Him.

Hold tight to God, your God, just as you’ve done up to now. (Josh. 23:8 MSG)

When you feel heavy and discouraged, one of the best things you can do is turn your attention to the Lord and cling to Him. He loves you more than you know, and He wants you to be clingy with Him. Relying on human strength or trying to do everything on your own is a mistake (Isa. 30:1–5). Instead, you get to cling to the Lord, letting Him carry all the things that are wearing you down (1 Pet. 5:7).

4. This is not the end. You are going to see breakthrough because your heavenly Father can do what “can’t” be done.

Ah Lord God! Behold, You have made the heavens and the earth by Your great power and by Your outstretched arm! There is nothing too difficult or too wonderful for You. (Jer. 32:17 AMP)

Nothing is too difficult for the Lord! Nothing is too hard for Him. Nothing is better than He is, so nothing is too wonderful for Him. The God who easily created the heavens and the earth is with you to help you. He is your Father. His DNA flows through your veins because of Jesus.

You might feel weary and exhausted right now, but He is working, and you are going to see miracles. He can easily do what the world says can’t be done.

He is carrying you forever (Ps. 28:9).

He is helping you (Isa. 30:18–22).
