Spending Time with His Love

When we feel miserable, alone, or scared, we need to remember how much we are loved.

Philippians 4:8 lists what is good to think about, and it mentions near the beginning “whatever is right.” What is right is that our heavenly Father is rejoicing in us. He is so happy about us—about our identity, that we exist, that we are thinking about Him.

If you’re in a season when it’s hard to remember what is right, take a few minutes now and purposefully turn your thoughts toward your Father and His love for you.

The truth: He delights in you constantly. He is pleased with you.

For the Lord your God is living among you.
    He is a mighty savior.
He will take delight in you with gladness.
With his love, he will calm all your fears.
He will rejoice over you with joyful songs. (Zeph. 3:17 NLT)

Here are a few declarations based on Zephaniah 3:17:

  • “The Lord is with me in a mighty way.”

  • “He can stop what needs to be stopped in my life.”

  • “He can easily keep me safe.”

  • “He can easily defeat every enemy that comes against me.”

  • “My enemies are afraid to approach me because He is with me.”

  • “I can see His love for me. There are signs of it all around me.”

The truth: When He says He loves you, He really means it.

But let him who boasts boast in this, that he understands and knows me, that I am the Lord who practices steadfast love, justice, and righteousness in the earth. For in these things I delight, declares the Lord. (Jer. 9:24 ESV)

Here are a few declarations based on Jeremiah 9:24:

“The Lord wants me to come closer and get to know Him.”

“He practices steadfast love in my life. It is not something He might do one day, but He is actively showing me His love right now.”

“He loves me so much that He will make sure I receive justice.”

“He is delighted to show me who He is and how much He really does love me.”

The truth: His love for you is constant. It isn’t just for the “good days.”

It is because of the Lord’s lovingkindnesses that we are not consumed,
Because His [tender] compassions never fail.
They are new every morning;
Great and beyond measure is Your faithfulness. (Lam. 3:22–23 AMP)

Any internal voice that says you are unable to receive God’s love, that He doesn’t love you, or that you’ve messed up too badly for Him to love—that is a lie and it needs to go.

Whenever you realize you feel unloved, respond in faith. “He loves me all the time. He loves me right now, even if I can’t feel it. His love for me is more constant than air. His love for me will never end.”

Chances are, you will start to feel His love after you choose to believe it.

Beloved child of God, you are so very precious to Him, and your heart can rest in this fact.
