Beloved Child, You Are Not Alone

If you feel alone today, this devotion is a soft and gentle reminder that you are not.

The God who made everything—what you can see around you with your natural eyes, as well as what you can’t see—is with you, and He is good, and He loves you more than what you’ve ever thought possible.

Colossians 1:15–17 is just one description of Him. This God is actively protecting and providing for you, and He is close enough to you to hear your thoughts:

[Jesus] is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of all creation: for by Him all things were created, both in the heavens and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones, or dominions, or rulers, or authorities—all things have been created through Him and for Him. He is before all things, and in Him all things hold together. (NASB)

Consider those words in light of what you’re concerned about today—the thing or circumstance that is making you feel alone.

The God who holds suns and moons and worlds steady in space is the same God who is holding your future marriage.

The God who holds the entire natural realm and the entire spiritual realm is the same God who is holding your finances.

The God who knows the names of stars (Ps. 147:4) is the same God who is holding your hopes and dreams.

The God who is literally the glue of everything in existence is the same God who is holding your job and your family and all the things you care about.

Whatever you’re dealing with today, God is trustworthy and He can do it. You are not alone, and you will never be alone.

Do you need clearer sight?

If you recognize that maybe you don’t see your Protector and Provider clearly, here is a simple prayer:

Father God, I know in my intellect that You are good, that You’re with me, and that You’re taking care of me, but I would like to know these things deep in my heart as well. Please open my eyes so I can see You more clearly in my life. Show me what You are doing and how You are drawing me forward into Your plans. Please help me see how much You really love me and how You are getting me ready for the good future You have for me. I want spiritual eyes that can see You well and a heart that is always tender toward You.

The more you see the truth about the Lord, the more you will be amazed. He is delighted to be with you, and He doesn’t want you to feel alone, because that isn’t true. He is a safe place for you when you’re scared or confused, and He is always very close by.
