The Reality of His Love
Many people believe lies about themselves or God, and they don’t realize it. But the “proof” of the lie shows up in how they feel about Him.
“I can’t be close to God. He doesn’t actually want me to be close to Him.”
“I do not have God’s favor. He has never helped me.”
“This is as good as it gets. There is nothing better for me, and I can’t expect God’s help.”
If you have a hard time believing God is with you, that He is going to help you, that you are so very precious to Him, that He wants to bring good things into your life—it is very likely you believe a lie somewhere.
Do You Believe a Lie?
Maybe the lie you believe is about Him: “He won’t love me until I’m a good person.” Or maybe the lie is about you: “I’m not good enough for Him.”
Whenever someone believes a lie, they need to go to the Bible to learn the truth. The Bible reveals the reality of God, as well as the reality of who we are as His kids. His love is big and real and extravagant—for you.
O God, how extravagant is your cherishing love! All mankind can find a hiding place under the shadow of your wings. (Ps. 36:7 TPT)
This Christmas season, get to know your heavenly Father’s love—as it really is, according to Scripture. Don’t allow any false belief to influence your closeness with Him. This is a very special season where we celebrate His presence. It is the season of Immanuel—God with us. Immanuel is exactly what He is for you, even if you can’t feel it right now.
A Picture of His Heart
The following list is just a glimpse of God’s heart for you. This list is true for you and your family. Remember this list whenever your heart feels distant from the Lord, or go to His Word and make your own list. Put the truth of God ahead of any negative feelings, and start to renew your mind according to His Word.
He is so very happy to be your Father (Jer. 3:19).
He is so delighted with you that He sings (Zeph. 3:17).
You are precious to Him (Isa. 43:4).
He wants you to believe and rely on His love (1 John 4:16).
He is not focused on your shortcomings or failures (1 Cor. 13:5).
He is tender toward you when you’re exhausted and weary (Matt. 11:28).
He wants to hold your hand and help you (Isa. 41:10).
He wants to do more for you than you can possibly imagine (Eph. 3:20).
Let go of the lies, precious child of God, and get to know His love. All of it is for you.
