The Impact of Prayer on Your Dating Life
Micah Sammie
Greetings from Becoming the One!
Dear Becoming the One family,
Just a few days ago, the Roat family changed forever.
We added one more person. ❤️
Years of prayers were answered as our daughter Amy married the love of her life. Nothing is more fulfilling to a parent’s heart than seeing God’s will playing out in their child’s life, and we know without doubt that when Amy said yes to Bryson, she was stepping into God’s perfect will for her.
Leon and I prayed for Amy long before she was born, and the day I found out I was pregnant with her was one of the most beautiful days of my life. I couldn’t wait to hold her in my arms, and apparently, she couldn’t wait either—she arrived six weeks early!
As a very young child, she would bring her Bible to us and ask us to read it to her. She loved climbing up onto her daddy’s lap to hear another story and pray together.
I will never forget the day she received Jesus. She was sitting at the kitchen counter and said she wanted Jesus in her heart. For months afterward, we would ask, “Amy, where is Jesus?”
And she would proudly answer, “In my heart!”
This precious young woman means the world to us, and from the beginning, we prayed for the man who would one day pursue her heart. We started praying for her husband before Amy was even born, and eventually God arranged for her to meet Bryson—a man who loves Jesus and loves Amy, caring for her, encouraging her, and pursuing her heart.
Bryson told us later that he was nervous to meet us for the first time, but he certainly didn’t show it!
This month at Becoming the One, we’re talking about a culture of prayer.
With our daughter’s wedding, some of our biggest prayers were answered.
Amy and Bryson love the Lord deeply, and they have invited Him to be at the center of their marriage. That is what makes their love story so beautiful, along with the precious time they spent getting to know each other and discovering the love and delight they now have for one another.
Amy and Bryson’s marriage is about building a life that continually points back to the One who brought them together.
That is what we want for you too.
Our prayer is that when life is easy, you and your spouse will praise Him together.
When life is difficult, that the two of you will run to Him.
When you disagree, that you will choose grace.
When you celebrate, that you will remember where every blessing comes from.
And when you grow old together, that you will look back and say, “Look what God has done.”
Join us this month as we talk about prayer and the impact it has on your dating and married life!
In His love,
Leon and Salomé for the Becoming the One Team
