One of the most important things we talk about at BTO is receiving God’s love and loving Him in return. This is the greatest commandment (Matt. 22:37–38), and it is a pillar of the BTO movement.

God’s love is the starting point of every good thing in our life!

I say to the Lord, “You are my Lord;
apart from you I have no good thing.” (Ps. 16:2 NIV)

Here are six ways you can experience more of His love. Please keep in mind this is not a complete list of every possible way! Also, these are ideas, not a list of “rules” or things you are obligated to do. Obligation will make the heart feel trapped, which is the opposite of what it needs.

Ask the Holy Spirit to guide your heart, and then do what you sense He shows you.

1. Read the Bible with an open, tender heart while looking to see His love. Find a verse about God’s love, and meditate on it. Allow your heart and mind to dwell on it, and listen to what the Holy Spirit says to you.

2. Believe the Bible when it says good things about you because you’re God’s child. Self-rejection will shut you down! Agree with God’s words instead, and allow them to tell you who you are.

You are dearly loved (Col. 3:12).
You are so very precious to your heavenly Father (Isa. 43:4).
You are God’s joy (Heb. 12:2).

3. Put on worship music, and sit quietly with God and your journal. Ask Him to reveal His love to you, and write down your thoughts and impressions.

4. Everywhere you go, practice listening to God’s voice. Your heavenly father is the God of love. Everything He says to you will be loving, kind, and the best thing you could hear in the moment.

5. Look up all the verses in the Bible that talk about God’s love and write them down. Respond in faith to what His Word says. Choose to believe it is 100% true for you.

6. Remind yourself of what is real. Fear and trauma will try to tell you lies about God’s love, but the truth is He loves you—more than you know.

His Love Will Change Your Life!

Becoming the one is about more than finding the right person and getting married. It’s about more than even getting the healing you need. At its core, becoming the one is about loving God and loving others with a pure love only His Spirit can give you.

The closer you grow to the Lord, the more intimate you will feel with your spouse and other loved ones. It’s amazing how this works! That is why the enemy tries so hard to interrupt your time with God, especially when you are seeking more of Him.

This week, spend time seeking more of God and His love for you. Experiencing His love will sincerely change your life!
