Are You Afraid to Pray?

This month at Becoming the One, we’re talking about a culture of prayer. One of the most powerful things a couple can do is pray together. The Bible says when two or more people gather together in Jesus’ name, He is there with them (Matt. 18:20). That is true for couples and prayer. Something amazingly powerful can happen when a couple prays together!
But why is prayer so HARD for some people?
When people don’t want to pray, it’s often because of fear.
“What if God doesn’t answer me?”
“What if I ask Him to do something, and He doesn’t do it?”
“My prayers don’t work. God never answers.”
“What if I pray the wrong things?”
“What if He tells me ‘no’ about something I really, really want?”
Beloved child of God, your heavenly Father loves you more than you think.
He is more delighted with you than you could imagine. If you can believe how much He loves you, you will find that prayer becomes a safe place for your heart:
The Lord values those who fear Him,
those who put their hope in His faithful love. (Ps. 147:11 HCSB)
That is you! ❤️
May the Lord’s tender love quiet your heart and lead you into deep conversation with Him.
Don’t be afraid to approach your heavenly Father to ask for help and for the things you need or want. You are precious to Him, and He hears you.
You are valuable to the Lord (Matt. 10:31).
You matter to Him (Isa. 43:4).
He hears you. He even “bends down” to listen to you (Ps. 116:1–2).
He will give you what you ask for (Mark 11:24).
If you ask anything according to His will, He will do it (1 John 5:14–15).
Keep asking. Be persistent with Him (Luke 18:1).
Keep knocking on the door, and it will open to you (Luke 11:9 AMP).
You will see His faithfulness (Deut. 7:9).
We encourage you to “seed” prayer into your marriage, even if you are single right now. Get in the habit of going to your heavenly Father with your needs and requests, knowing He loves you and desires to hear your voice in every situation:
Never worry about anything. But in every situation let God know what you need in prayers and requests while giving thanks. Then God’s peace, which goes beyond anything we can imagine, will guard your thoughts and emotions through Christ Yeshua. (Phil. 4:6–7 NOG)
He who promised is faithful (Heb. 11:11). If you plant the seeds of prayer, one day you will reap a harvest.
