Are You Waiting for God to Answer a Prayer?

Fa Barboza

What are you praying for?

What has God placed on your heart?

Don’t be afraid to keep praying that prayer, even if you can’t see the answer yet. God is going to do what He promised.

Just a few years into their marriage, Salomé and Leon Roat (the founders of Becoming the One) were ecstatic to find out they were pregnant with their son, Christian. They couldn’t wait to have a second baby and thought conceiving that baby would be easy, as it had been with Christian. But things did not go the way they expected.

They had two heartbreaking miscarriages, and Salomé found herself in the hardest, most painful season of her life.

Is this it? she wondered. What if we are never able to have another child?

She decided to give up on her dream for more children because she just couldn’t handle this level of anguish.

But she still felt devastated when her period started.

That evening as she grieved, Leon came and prayed for her.

“Being barren is not God’s will for us,” he said. “He is going to give us more children.”

His prayer and faith impacted Salomé’s aching heart. She realized how cherished she was, and Leon’s confidence in the Lord’s plan for them gave her hope. She knew she could trust her husband, and this helped her trust the Lord.

As she prayed for peace, Leon stayed with her. He kept quietly interceding for her, and a strong sense of God’s peace and contentment rolled through her heart. She went from feeling depressed and heartbroken to feeling hope.

The next morning, Salomé realized her period had stopped. She took another pregnancy test a few days later and discovered she was pregnant. Their little daughter was born a quick seven months later, and they had a second beautiful daughter three years after that.

This month at Becoming the One, we’re talking about a culture of prayer.

God the Father values the prayers of His children, more than we think, and He loves answering those prayers.

But quite often, the answers don’t come as quickly as we want them to. We can be tempted to give up—to let go of the precious thing God has put on our hearts.

As Leon told Salomé, it is not God’s will for us to be “barren,” whatever that means in our unique case. He will answer our prayer at the right time.

Put it in writing, because it is not yet time for it to come true. But the time is coming quickly, and what I show you will come true. It may seem slow in coming, but wait for it; it will certainly take place, and it will not be delayed.” (Hab. 2:3 GNT)
