Encountering God’s Love
So often we make God’s love more complicated than it is.
The following verse is His heart for you. It doesn’t matter where you are in life, if you feel you’re doing well or if you’re convinced you’re doing poorly. This is how He feels about you, and it is how He responds to you:
O Lord, you are so good, so ready to forgive,
so full of unfailing love for all who ask for your help. (Ps. 86:5 NLT)
Beloved child of God, do you need His help today?
All His unfailing love is for you.
Do you feel like a failure?
All His unfailing love is for you.
Is your heart broken?
All His unfailing love is for you.
Are you aching and tired and don’t know what to do?
All His unfailing love is for you.
Everyone who goes to Him for help encounters His love.
The Amplified Bible translates it this way: He is “abundant in lovingkindness and overflowing in mercy.”
The Contemporary English Version says, “Your love is always there for those who pray to you.”
Not complicated. Simple.
Simple, Extravagant Love
This month at Becoming the One, we’re talking about something beautiful and profoundly healing: encountering the love of God.
Unfortunately, many of us have a mental understanding of His love—we think we know it—but our hearts can struggle with childhood wounds and the enemy’s lies, and they don’t really get it.
“I don’t trust this. It seems too good to be true. I’m too messed up for God. I’m too broken. I’ve been rejected before—I don’t want God to reject me too.”
That’s where simple verses like Psalm 86:5 come in. The simplicity can break through the barriers our hearts have erected.
“He’s good. He’s forgiving. Do you need help? He loves you.”
Asking for His Help
Where do you need God’s help this week?
Do you need wisdom? Are you broke and need a job? Are you single and want to meet somebody? Do you need courage to move forward?
Purposefully make a request of your Father, keeping Psalm 86:5 in mind.
He is good. So good!
He is ready to forgive. So ready!
He is so full of unfailing love for all who come to Him for help.
His love isn’t complicated. You are His child—you already have His heart.
May your heart be able to greet His heart in a new way this week. May you bask in His pleasure over you and experience the blessed fullness of His affection.
