Knowing the Father’s Delight Leads to Miracles

All of us go through seasons when prayer feels like getting ready for a job we don’t enjoy. God seems far away, and everything we pray feels empty or powerless. We don’t feel connected to our heavenly Father.
When this disconnect happens, it is a sign we need to remember something: that He is pleased with us.
The Lord takes pleasure in his people. (Ps. 149:4 GNT)
He happily rejoices over you,
renews you with his love,
and celebrates over you with shouts of joy. (Zeph. 3:17 GW)
Knowing our heavenly Father is delighted with us grabs hold of the heaviness sitting on our hearts and drags it off like a blanket. We start to remember what His Spirit feels like, and we rediscover His fire within us. It is like our hearts suddenly take a deep breath and start to beat again.
In this place of remembering His delight in us, we can start making wild, bold, world-changing requests of Him, because we realize we can.
Knowing His delight leads to miracles. That is what delight produces: children who are unafraid to run to their Father and pray miracle-producing prayers.
This month at Becoming the One, we’re talking about encountering God’s love.
So many of us know about His love…but from a distance. We haven’t experienced it personally. We don’t realize we can. His delight feels like another language, one we don’t speak.
But we get to experience His love up close. We get to touch it for ourselves.
What existed from the beginning, what we have heard, what we have seen with our eyes, what we observed and touched with our own hands—this is the Word of life! (1 John 1:1 ISV)
Do YOU realize God delights in every detail of YOUR life?
Nothing is overlooked or too small for His affection.
He loves even the very tiny things about you—the details no one else knows, like the ever-changing number of hairs on your head. From moment to moment, He knows exactly how many there are (Luke 12:7).
He is a library of details concerning you, because your details are precious to Him:
The Lord directs the steps of the godly.
He delights in every detail of their lives. (Ps. 37:23 NLT)
This God who delights in your details takes great pleasure in your prayers and the desires of your heart. What matters to you matters to Him because of that delight.
What do you want to ask your Father for today?
What is on your heart?
Where do you need His help?
First, remember how delighted He is with you. Take pleasure in His pleasure toward you.
And then, from that sweet place of knowing His laughing delight, make bold requests of Him.
