How Much He Loves Your Heart!

Do you know how much God values your heart?

Many of us miss the beautiful, intricate depth of Scripture as it describes God’s great affection for us. We can end up making the painful assumption that God values other things more than the special part of us that forms the core of who we are. It’s easy to think He places greater value on things like our service or our ability to “hold it together” as a Christian.

But our loving heavenly Father values our heart.

Guard your heart above all else,
for it determines the course of your life. (Prov. 4:23 NLT)

As a believer in Jesus, your heart is filled with His abundant life. Jeremiah 17:9 describes a heart without Jesus, calling it deceitfully wicked, but that is not a description of you, because you are holy now.

You are not without Jesus.

You are a new creation (2 Cor. 5:17). You are a child of light, not darkness. Everything has shifted for you. Everything is different now. He has given you a new heart that responds to Him (Ez. 36:26).

Your heart is the Lord’s prize. That truth is surprisingly important when you’re thinking about dating someone. If somebody believes their heart is wicked, how can they fully accept the wonderful things God says about them? How can they say “yes” to the amazing gifts He has for them? Wouldn’t they be more likely to settle for someone who wasn’t a great match for them?

If we believe we are bad at some level, we won’t be able to fully, 100% accept the extravagant, overwhelming love God is constantly pouring out on us.

You used to be far away from God, but now—now, precious child—you have been brought close by the blood of Jesus. God has welcomed you into His presence, and you are holy and blameless before Him, without a single fault (Col. 1:21–22).

What do you think of your heart?

Do you see yourself the way Jesus sees you—as a holy child completely redeemed by His blood?

This month at Becoming the One, we’re discussing compatibility and a culture of hospitality (being gracious). All of us need to learn how to be gracious with ourselves. We are not who we were! We are now holy. We are redeemed. We are a beloved child of God, and He says our heart is precious and valuable to Him.

Don’t be afraid to believe what God is saying about your heart. This will make finding and then dating the right person so much easier for you. ❤️
