Identity Reminders

This month at Becoming the One, we talked about identity—who you really are in Jesus. As August draws to a close, here are a few of the amazing things the Bible says about you.

Your True Identity…

  • You are a true child of God (1 John 3:1).

  • You are blameless and completely flawless in His sight. He thinks you are perfect (Col. 1:22).

  • You are the righteousness of God (2 Cor. 5:21).

  • You are holy, not cast off (Heb. 10:10).

  • You are so loved (Jer. 31:3).

  • He chose you to be His forever (1 Pet. 2:9).

  • You are exactly who God says you are (Matt. 4:4).

  • You are marked by the Holy Spirit (2 Cor. 1:21–22).

  • The Holy Spirit and your spirit are one (1 Cor. 6:17).

  • Because of your union with the Holy Spirit, the truth about you is Galatians 5:22–23: You are full of love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, and gentleness.

  • You have incredible self-control because of your union with the Holy Spirit. He gives you the ability to break free from bad habits and thought patterns and go after the good things of God instead (Gal. 5:23).

  • Because of Jesus, you have the ability to think in a healthy, godly way (1 Cor. 2:16).

  • The truth about you is that you are joined with Jesus—not held at a distance, not far away from Him, not barely making it (Eph. 2:6).

  • You are not separated from God by bad thoughts or unholy actions (Col. 1:21–22).

  • You are not alone. The Lord Himself watches over you, and He holds you in His arms (Ps. 121:5; Deut. 33:27).

  • You are as secure as a mountain (Ps. 125:1).

  • Your identity is steeped in the goodness of God. You are surrounded by His goodness (Ps. 5:12).

  • The mind-bending, earth-changing, over-the-top triumph of God fills every part of your life (2 Cor. 2:14).

  • Your future is good and full of hope (Jer. 29:11).

Our Blessing for You

Beloved child of God, may the mighty love of the Lord move from your head to your heart in this season. May it become real to you in a new way. May every place where you have doubts about His love be completely healed and filled to overflowing with the warm, steady knowledge of who He is and who He says you are. May every fear be cast down under your feet. May every lie dissolve in the light of His wonder and glory. May the Lord’s delight in you blaze up in your heart and cause you to laugh with joy, and may His love be your comfort when you wake up in the morning and when you go to bed at night. May you come to know who you are until you have no questions and no worries and a holy boldness comes upon you to shine like a star in the world.
