Remember, He Made You Holy

This month at Becoming the One, we’ve been talking about a culture of unity: being one with God and one with one another.

Just a few days ago, we celebrated the beginning of the greatest act of unity ever accomplished. It began at Christmas two thousand years ago, and it finished at Easter thirty-three years later.

The Holy One wanted unity with us, His sin-riddled, unholy children who had turned away from Him. He wanted us to be with Him. So He cut through the clinging darkness and made a way for us to become holy through the blood of Jesus.

We used to be far away from our heavenly Father—cut off, distant, utterly lost, broken.

But not anymore.

Not. Any. More.

Through Jesus, God changed our story, rescuing us from darkness and bringing us into holiness. We are men and women who look like Jesus now.

Now you belong to Christ Jesus, and though you once were far away from God, now you have been brought very near to him because of what Jesus Christ has done for you with his blood. (Eph. 2:13 TLB)

No matter how you might feel, holiness is your story.

You are “very near” to the God who dearly loves you. The Bible even says that you are “one spirit” with Him (1 Cor. 6:17).

In our own strength, holiness—this precious unity with God—was impossible. We just couldn’t do it ourselves. And so, He did it. He stepped in and made us holy through Jesus. That is what we are, even when we can’t feel it.

We are holy. We are united with Jesus.

Everything is different now. Everything about us has been made new. The truth about us is that we are beautiful, without blemish, because that is what holiness looks like.

You are altogether beautiful, my darling,
beautiful in every way. (Songs 4:7 NLT)

This holiness is real, and we don’t need to be afraid anymore.

Spend a few minutes in a quiet place listening to the Holy Spirit and what He is saying to you.

If you feel unholy for any reason, let Him whisper the truth to your heart.

If you feel discouraged or afraid, let Him tell you what is real. “I have chosen you. You are Mine now. You have nothing to be afraid of. I have not condemned you—I have made you holy. Nothing inside you could cut you off from Me.”

Pay attention to Bible verses that stand out to you this week. Even if God surprises you with His joy over your existence, even if He says things that seem too good to be true, hold on to them and treasure them, because what He says is real.

Here at the end of 2025, may you finally be able to relax and let His truth be the place where you rest.
