Simple Prayers When You’re Struggling with Fear

All of us go through days or seasons of fear. Sometimes the fear seems so powerful that we don’t know what to do.

In those moments, it is good to remind ourselves of who God is. These reminders can be super simple. The point is to ground ourselves in the truth.

This is what God is like. This is what He promises to do in His Word. He is my Father, and He is with me, and He is helping me.”

May the following reminders comfort you this week and bring beautiful, holy peace to your heart!

Do you feel trapped? The Lord sets you free from traps.

Praise the Lord,
    who did not let their teeth tear us apart!
We escaped like a bird from a hunter’s trap.
    The trap is broken, and we are free!
Our help is from the Lord,
    who made heaven and earth. (Ps. 124:6–8 NLT)

Here are a few brief prayers based on that psalm:

  • “Father God, Your Word says You are helping me, and I believe You. Thank You for Your help!”

  • “You will not allow my enemies to destroy me.”

  • “I am not alone, but You are with me and will give me exactly what I need to conquer these fears.”

  • “I am going to see the goodness of the Lord. Thank You for Your goodness in my life!”

  • “You are mighty to save, just like Your Word says.”

The Lord is your Keeper, and He is very good at it.

The Lord is your keeper;
The Lord is your shade at your right hand.
The sun shall not strike you by day,
Nor the moon by night.

The Lord shall preserve you from all evil;
He shall preserve your soul. (Ps. 121:5–7 NKJV)

Here are a few prayers based on that passage:

  • “Father God, You are my Keeper. I know this and I trust You.”

  • “You are my Protector and the One who preserves me. You are looking out for me.”

  • “I am safe day and night because of You.”

  • “You are guarding me. You stand between me and all these things I am afraid of.”

The Lord gives me victory over all my fears.

The Lord is my strength and my song;
    he has given me victory.
Songs of joy and victory are sung in the camp of the godly.
    The strong right arm of the Lord has done glorious things!
The strong right arm of the Lord is raised in triumph.
    The strong right arm of the Lord has done glorious things! (Ps. 118:14–16 NLT)

Here are a few prayers based on the victory of the Lord:

“God, You are my strength and the reason I rejoice.”

“Because of You, I will have victory over these fears.”

“Your presence is victory for Your people!”

“You are doing glorious things for me. I will be amazed.”

Beloved child of God, don’t be afraid to trust your Father. Whenever fear tries to convince you He is not trustworthy or you should run away, stand your ground and remember who He is. A wild song of victory is coming your way!
