Trusting God to Protect You

Do you believe the Lord is watching over you? Or do you feel like you have to watch over yourself?

I lay down and slept,
yet I woke up in safety,
for the Lord was watching over me. (Ps. 3:5 NLT)

Sometimes we need to stop trying so hard to do what God wants to do for us. When we just trust Him and allow Him to be the Warrior-Father He wants to be in our life, we honor Him and we find rest. We get to “wake up in safety,” because He is protecting us.

Protection in Dating

His protection is not just physical (though, of course, it includes the physical). He also wants to protect us in our dating relationships.

A lot of believers—men and women—do everything they can to keep themselves safe from pain, but they are likely acting out of fear. Even in dating and marriage relationships, we can trust the Lord to help us and watch over us.

Protection in Family Matters

Or maybe we’re having family problems, and that is where we need God’s protection the most. Instead of reacting and trying to self-protect, we can believe the Lord when He gently says, “I know what happened to you, and you can trust Me to protect you and help you. It’s going to be okay.”

He WILL Show Up

Do you believe that when you call to the Lord for help, He will respond favorably and help you?

I call out to the Lord,
and he answers me from his holy mountain. (Ps. 3:4 NIV)

Think about something you’re struggling with right now—big or small. Maybe you’re broke, or you’re single and don’t want to be, or you’re scared about the future.

No matter the issue, Psalm 3:4 is true. When you cry out to the Lord, He will answer you. That is a biblical promise. His answer might not look the way you expected, and it might be quieter than you expected—something you might not notice at first. But you are His child, and He will show up to help. That is what good fathers do.

Keep asking for His help because it is coming (Luke 11:9).

He Is Bigger Than All Your Enemies

When we realize what God’s heart is like and how much He loves us, we lose our fear.

I am not afraid of ten thousand enemies
who surround me on every side. (Ps. 3:6 NLT)

It doesn’t matter if the enemy is bigger than we are. It doesn’t matter how many of them there are. We are not afraid—because we know God is good and that He loves us dearly and that He is with us.

Don’t be afraid to trust Him, beloved child of God. You are His treasure, and He is watching over you.
