Trusting His Love

Do you know deep in your heart that God loves you?

Is His love more than just a concept? Have you ever felt it?

So many of us live our day-to-day lives without trying to connect with His love. We might be aware of it the way we’re aware of a friend who lives in a distant city, but we don’t spend time soaking our hearts in His love or filling our thoughts with it—we don’t realize how much we need to.

The love of God is not a secondary element of Christianity. It is the backbone of our faith. Love is who God is (1 John 4:16). No part of our faith is separate from His love, and the whole world is filled with His love (Ps. 145:17; 119:64).

And His love is something we get to experience personally! We get to see it with our eyes, touch it with our hands, and cling to it.

That which was from the beginning, which we have heard, which we have seen with our eyes, which we have looked at and our hands have touched—this we proclaim concerning the Word of life. (1 John 1:1 NIV)

Knowing God’s love and loving Him in return is one of the primary pillars of Becoming the One.

His love is the starting point of our lives. When we know we are loved, we can let go of the past and step into who He made us to be.

We can love ourselves purely when we’ve experienced His love for us.

We can love others rightly when we’ve received His love for ourselves.

We can see people the way He sees them when we are connected with His love.

His love is why we can rejoice even when our circumstances aren’t ideal.

His love is why we can trust all those verses that talk about how He protects us and saves us and will always be there for us.

His love is soft. He is tender toward all He has made (Ps. 145:9).

His love is strong. It always protects (1 Cor. 13:7).

His love is not like the world’s love.

Many of us have seen faulty love and assume God’s love is the same—that it fails sometimes, that it can hurt us sometimes. But His love never fails. It does not fall short. It does not have weak places or character flaws. His love does not betray people. His love does not steal, kill, or destroy, but it always flows with abundant life (John 10:10).

We know how much God loves us, and we have put our trust in his love. (1 John 4:16 NLT)

Beloved child of God, you get to put your trust in His love!

This week, may you be able to rest in your heavenly Father’s love. Spend time with Him, and let Him whisper to your heart how much He loves you. What a splendid “Happy Valentine’s Day” that would be!
