Come Discover Who the Father Says You Are

This month at Becoming the One, we’ve been talking about a culture of joy that arises from three main things:
Experiencing God’s wonderful love personally
Allowing Jesus to heal our hearts
Discovering who we are in Him
As we rapidly approach the end of February, let’s talk about the last point:
Discovering who you are in Jesus.
A lot of us assume we know who we are. For years we’ve heard and experienced things from our parents, siblings, teachers, and friends, and their assumptions about our identity have influenced us. The world has also pumped us full of information about our identity: “We know exactly who you are, and that is how we’re going to treat you.”
But, precious child of God, only one opinion matters.
Who does GOD say you are?
If you don’t know or if you have questions, spend time with Him and His Word, and find out what He says because this will change your life.
His answer will reflect who He is. This means it will be good all the way through—without any shadow. It will be gentle, kind, trustworthy, full of joy, and will fill you with amazing hope for the future!
God’s Word can be trusted. Here are some things the enemy might say to you—and here is what God’s Word says instead:
The enemy says, “You can’t do this.”
But God says, “You are more than a conqueror in Me. You can do everything you need to do through Me” (Rom. 8:37; Phil. 4:13).
The enemy says, “You aren’t good enough.”
God says, “You are Mine. I have completely redeemed you, and I call you by your name” (Isa. 43:1).
The enemy says, “You are a failure!”
God says, “You are My beloved child” (Eph. 5:1).
The enemy says, “You’re a loser. You’ve made so many mistakes that not even God can help you.”
God says, “You are the object of My love. You have nothing to fear in My love” (1 John 4:18).
The enemy says, “You will never have what you want.”
God says, “I will give you the desires of your heart as you delight in Me” (Ps. 37:4).
The enemy says, “You are defenseless.”
God says, “You are protected” (Ps. 121:7–8).
The enemy says, “You will always struggle with fear.”
God says, “You are fearless” (2 Tim. 1:7).
The enemy says, “You’re confused. You don’t have any idea how to move forward.”
God says, “You live in My light, and I Myself tell you what to do and where to go” (John 8:12; Isa. 30:21).
What an amazing thing it is to see the beauty of Jesus even in who He made us to be!
When we really know who we are in Him, we can let go of false ideas and grab hold of the simple truth: that we are God’s children and He loves us.
May you come to know, all the way through to your core, that you are God’s beloved child and you truly matter to Him!
